Stopped by a friends @ClassyJalopy to borrow his techstream setup to turn off the annoying automated column exit feature and shortened the interior light timer when the ignition is turned off. Considered other changes, but left it at that for now. View attachment 2842508

Also have a solid state controller, rope line, aluminum fairlead, and factor55 thimble to complete the package. I’m pretty sure I need heavier front coils before I put this in.

Picked up and installed my ShrockWorks sliders. Great quality, great finish. As a Texan, I happily saved $300 in shipping cost since ShrockWorks is in Houston as opposed to Oregon/Washington/Cali.

If you're in a reasonable radius from H-town, it makes these great quality, custom built sliders a relative bargain.

They don't overtly market to the GX community, but as I anticipated, the 4th gen 4R pieces lined up and installed perfectly (with a little frame weld massaging ⚒️ on the L/S front mount)

Have some shelves that got pulled out of an office demo I helped a friend with. Hello platform. It's a smidge low, so I may need to raise it up, but I'll sleep on it first to see if my back cares. 36" deep, 10.5" interior height. Need to add some bracing and tie it down to the floor. No plans for drawers, maybe some carpet, probably some wings to fill in the side gaps.

Did the body mount chop with metal-techs body mount weld in plates.

Neglected to look at various photos before doing the chop and the plate ended up at an odd angle, making the clearance not so great.
I used JB-weld putty instead of welding, didnt want to purchase a welder or reach out to anyone as its not a high stress structural component.

I will likely end up grinding down the one side and filling it back in with more of the steel putty. Then repaiting
Wont make the same cut/mistake on the passenger side.

Did you remove the grill to dip or do it in place? step one for me is to reinforce the cracking grill mounts with JB lol

I removed it. Some of the grille mounts broke during removal, so I repaired with super glue.

Pulled our 4000# GeoPro from northwest Iowa to Galveston TX and back. The GX is a remarkably good tow vehicle. 2600 miles was nothing to this old girl with 200k on her!
How is the MPG while towing and overall stability? We're on the fence between a big pop up (Rockwood ESP) or an ultra light camper like a GeoPro. We'd like to be able to pull it to CO/UT and have it be tolerable up and down mountain passes.

New Denso radiator, rad hoses, re-seal coolant inlet housing and new o-ring, timing belt inspection (previous owner said it was done 70k ago). Looks about right.

Well as you might expect, the gas mileage is pretty bad. On flat land with little wind going 65 on the interstate I'm in the low 8's. 2 lane back roads at 55-60 with light winds I can get low 10's. When we went through the Ozarks I got over 10 in the hills but speeds were slower. Interstate with a headwind I got high 6's. I live in the wind belt where it's pretty rare to get a calm day so I'm used to the poor mileage.
The GeoPro pulls like a dream. I was pretty nervous prior to picking it up this May about towing with a short wheelbase vehicle. Fast forward to November and I'm pulling it across the country with almost no issues. I have a Fastway E2 WD hitch and stock suspension and the whole towing experience is smoother than I expected. I've towed a few lighter trailers with the GX without the WD hitch and its always been loud and bumpy and generally unpleasant. This setup with the GeoPro is like butter! The GX does ok in the hills. A 1 ton diesel dually it is not, lol! I don't have any experience with it in real mountains but in the Ozarks it did just fine. One recommendation that I would make, and this was really the only problem that we had in all of our travels this year, is do your research on what trailer brake controller you choose. I have the Curt Echo Bluetooth controller and while the Bluetooth part of it works fine, the way it applies the brakes is garbage. GeoPros use Dexter axles with Neveradjust drum brakes and there's something about this combo that doesn't play nice together. If I set the output to it's second lowest setting it locks up the trailer brakes at parking lot speeds. On it's lowest setting you can't feel any brake application at all. I have to drop it to it's lowest setting in town and then bump it back up on the highway. Not ideal. I even pulled into a parking lot and jacked up the camper and properly adjusted the trailer brakes just to make sure that it wasn't a mechanical issue but it made no difference. Lots of people are having similar issues with this setup so I'll get a different controller for next season.
