Dropped my GX off w/ Chandler Lexus for a partial re-paint on Lexus's dime. I literally snuck in the LAST DAY of their Blizzard Pearl paint recall (?) in March. It had its fair share of obvious paint peel; got it scheduled to be dropped off last month and finally got a call yesterday that it was actually in for paint with whatever shop they've had it at.
It's my camping/hunting rig. I declined spending a little out of pocket to get it touched up beyond what Lexus approved but am excited to see it when it's done.
Haven't had anything to post/share in forever - hope everyone's well and surviving this $6+/gallon BS at the pump (along with every other economic load of garbage we've all inherited).

The 20 year old fuel pump took a dump. I may want to replace it on maybe? A ten year interval, due to the amount of scary fuel that was pouring out.
That is, if they are still available in 10 years.
Story short, Cruiser Outfitters, landed here in 2 days for a reasonable price. Think SOR has them listed for close to $500 before shipping. Yikes.
Oh, and some cool stickers included.

I figured out after the first time this happened to route the fuel line from the electric pump directly to the carb. My replacement mechanical pump has ~20,000 miles on it but never pumped an ounce of gasoline. I keep it in there as an emergency spare and to close the hole in the side of the engine.
Onur and the guys at Overland Cruisers finished my timing belt / water pump today. Cool thing is he sent me a Google Drive link with pictures to document the job and I followed along from my computer. Printed all the pictures so, if I ever sell it, I’ll have that record attached to the maintenance history. Everything was done (all hoses, seals, fan bracket, etc.) and my GX470 is running beautifully.

Superlative Overland Vehicle Restoration in Sonoita, AZ - Overland Cruisers
Overland Cruisers is a Toyota Land Cruiser and 4x4 off-road vehicle restoration, upfitting, and training company based out of Sonoita, Arizona.
Installed the T'eyes CC3 Android head unit in my 04 100 series. Some kinks, but the AC works with no issues, radio works fine. Steering wheel controls work. No reverse camera image, that requires a new reverse camera.
Only downsides are: a very minor hiss (in my opinion), which I think is from a second tuner and probably software related; and the volume knob and tuning knob on the stock radio don't work. According to this thread on the 100 series forum, not everyone has had these issues, some have full radio controls but no AC.
I really wanted a Android Auto in my truck. I've been spoiled by some recent rental cars, and began pursuing options for my truck. Not a perfect plug-n-play solution yet. Install is easy, but appears to have some remaining software bugs. If I get too frustrated with it, I can always plug the stock MFD back in and go back to original.

I got tired of working on land cruisers, so I did a few things to the dodge last week then went camping for 2 nights. Put air bags on the rear, pulled the rear seat to permanently mount the dometic. Also swapped the campers 2 6v Trojans for a 100ah lifepo4 battery and tested out the 300w solar array. Killer upgrade, dropped 100lbs of weight and still had 66% charge after 48 hours.
We did a bunch of exploring out near edge of the world. Found way better spots and saw 1 person in 2 days away from the main road. Got 2+” of rain also.

Found the old growth forest I have heard a bit about. Did not look around as much as I wanted due to time constraints, but some pretty cool oaks and ponderosas.
Then on the way out we got a gnarly rain. Ended up doing about a 3 mile mud bog across the flats. Had a few times where I thought I was going to get stuck or leave the camper behind unintentionally. Fortunately everything was ok when I got home. I took one picture right when we got into the flats, after turning right here we were stuck in ruts for about 10 mins and I got 0 pictures.

Had a friend in town, we spent the morning putting new leaf spring bushings and bilsteins on the 45 then loaded up for a few days of camping.

The 45 drive so nice with new bushings and shocks. I'm still amazed at how smooth it rides

We hung around edge of the world until the population got out of control, then headed east via the maze of FR roads. Ended up at one of my favorite spots, mostly because of the big alligator junipers.
The killer view of secret canyon doesn't hurt either
Then I woke up with the chills in a down sleeping bag on a 55 degree night...
So, we cut the trip 2 nights short... And now almost 3 months later, I still dont feel great. But, it's getting better. Driving the 45 around definitely helps the recovery process

Nice setup but missing an accessory something like this.
Not sure how many miles I towed this up to Northern Arizona from the valley. Had a big two room tent when the kids were little. They are all in their late thirties early forties now. Your tow vehicle being a Ram could probably get away with a old CJ5 at less than 2/3 weight. Great area to explore in a open 4X4.
I'd love to have that rig
I bought the cummins for a few reasons. Mostly to tow, but also to get a camper and talk the wife out of the travel trailer. As comfy as the trailer is, it sucks towing through national parks and is a huge pain to get into a camp site that is far enough away from other people. The dodge/pop top combo is a great compromise that goes more places than the trailer or sprinter van ever could. Plus, it is still a truck the other 80% of the time. Im really surprised how well this truck wheels being a long bed and about 8500lbs.
So far I have spent 7 nights in it, all in places I could not get the trailer to. Plus camp takes about 2 minutes to set up or take down, and I can drive 4-5x the speed on dirt roads.
last year I towed the trailer to moab with my 80. It did fine, but was slow and I had about a 160 mile range per tank. It was well worth it though, as 6 out of 8 days were cold and rainy. This fall's moab trip will be the dodge with the camper towing my 80 on the flatbed.
And all future national park tours will be the dodge +camper, since this combo is a huge pain to tow through national parks
Wife did this today. 54k miles on the tires, several trails in the San Juans under them, and the concrete jungle was what took it down. Destroyed 500 feet from home. With 54k looks like it'll be best to replace them all even though they're in great shape. Wish city road construction could be held responsible.
