I'm fighting with the crankshaft seal. I only had about 30 minutes last night and it is coming out in pieces. I was trying to be gentle. I don't have a seal puller, I'll pick one up at HF. Otherwise I guess I'll use a pick.

In good news, the oil pump cover came off pretty easily.

Let the project begin

Thought about doing this years ago to my FJ62 and mentioned it to Dave Gore. He brought up the fact the 1ZF had more main bearings making the crank stronger to handle the extra power. Ended up just reducing the size tires. Seems fine with 31s. If I want to go bigger figure just changed the ring and pinion in the differentials to keep the power band close to stock and just manually shift the auto. I'm curious how this turns out on your FJ80.

I just added 35s and I like the shift points where they are now. I am contemplating having the rig dyno'd for a before and after. Need to check on the cost for a AWD dyno run. Or I guess I could pull the front drive shaft and lock the center diff.

Seems I remember you planned a V8 conversion, doing this instead? Think as long as you do the test the same both times should show net gain either way. I was using my FJ62 to travel up north regularly and with 33s it was gutless going up General Crook Trail. Been over twelve years since it's been on that road.

I still have the V8 but it needs a full overhaul. This sounded fun, has only been done a few times, and not very well documented when it was done. Exactly my kind of project. Part of me wants to keep the 3FE anyways. I think it has a ton of potential.

endurance testing on the 200! ;)

Got a nice package from Australia; a Mark's 4wd custom speedometer adapter, and some longer rear LCA's (+11mm) for the 80. With the AUSD to USD conversion right now, it was very reasonable. Speedo is now accurate again after the regear .

As a bonus, only a 1.5 week wait from order, to custom ratio creation, to arrival from down under.

Well, that makes a Merry Christmas

Now your 80s will fight for the goodies :)

Do you have to pay any import tax or custom clearing fee?

No special taxes that I am aware of. It looks like the Customs declarations weren't even touched.

^^^ Marks is actually very good. I got the 200 diff drop from them and it arrived w/in a week. Good comms too.

My turbo 80 is like having a V8, you will love the upgrade.

I removed my floppy driver side visor in my 80 and replaced it with a visor out of an LS400. Results are mixed.

Not sure I will do the passenger side.

I have a torque wrench that goes to 600ft/lbs if you need it.

That would be great! I have the HF one that goes to 300ft/lbs, but I'd like to see how it compares to a higher quality torque wrench. I'll be buttoning up over the next several days. I just had the injectors serviced locally and put them back in yesterday. Same day service I broke two injector wire harness connectors, luckily Precision had them. I have a ton of hoses to replace as well as the EGR VSV. I'm replacing the low pressure PS hoses and hopefully that will solve my PS leaks.

Text me at 520 404-2530 and hopefully we can coordinate.
