Is the differential the same size and use the same bearings and axel shafts?

9.5" for both 80 & 100 rear differential. They use different install kit. I am going to say bearings may not be the same because of that. 30 splines for the 80, 32 splines for the 100. 100 rear axle is wider so shaft length may not be the same. 100 also has a semi floater rear axle. Is your 80 rear differential from a full or semi floater axle?

It is from a semi float. The spline count will not work. Would have to change spider gears. So it sounds like the only part that is the same is the main differential body.

Well I don't think my diff is going to work in your rig and I don't have a ring and pinion gear.

I actually got lucky back in the 90's and found a 72 tub in a salvage yard. Since the 69 tub was in really bad shape rust (etc), I put the 72 tub on the 69 chassis, so I have the later pedal bucket. Everything lined up as it should have.. The only real issue I have had was finding and/or jury rigging the 10mm T's and junctions (Some of it is Rube Goldberg). I think I have enough to finish the job. I wanted all the other hardware (rotors, calipers, master cylinder, booster) on before I finished up the brake line re-do.

That is where I currently am. All the hardware is on.

Wish someone would have told me that I needed new brake hoses. Got the new brake lines in, and duh!, no hoses. Just ordered the set from SOR, so can't finish until they come in. And, BTW, I have installed the rear caliper in 3 different locations, and am not happy with any of them.

Intrigued, my wrenching skills doesn't limit my ability to scratch my head with the best of them, if needed..
