It's been a while since I've posted on Mud, mostly because the Cruiser has been running great and because we've had a busy summer with work, but last weekend we got out, and it was perfect.

TorFab installed the Sumo 10% underdrive and 3.1:1 low gears last week for me. Love the feels so far. Need to pull my little trailer over the pass still. Did test 4lo this morning at my other favorite bar.

That picture makes me reconsider the 16x7 steelies that you have.

The injection pump on my 1HDFT decided to do this all of a sudden. It was running great until it wasn't, and had this sudden failure, over pressurizing to the point of shearing the bolts and blowing the advance piston cover off. I was on the highway when it happened, as I started noticing a stream of diesel fuel spraying out the back, before the truck quit running. The pump was recently rebuilt by a reputable shop who has been responsive and accepting to take the pump back for another overhaul. Apparently this is a rare occurrence that happens when something inside prevent the fuel from returning or trapped air that can create internal cavitation. I am sending the pump back to them for a full analysis, will report back when I know more. Troubling part was how sudden it was with no advance warning of anything being wrong. Luckily I wasn't somewhere remote when it happened. Oh the joys of owning one of these.

Finally got around to putting in my new front vinyl floor in the troop carrier. Not seen under it is 6 coats, about 1/2 bucket, of Second Skin sound deadener. This not only deadened the roar of the 1HZ to a deep hum, but now I can hear my tires roar on the pavement which I couldn't before. I thought I had these really quiet MT's - nope, just a loud truck. This also took care of that funky old buttermilk smell. Been driving all over town, for no reason at all.

Also found the Holy Grail - a body shop that does actual rust repair. And will actually paint a vehicle! I was about to give up - every shop I called only did insurance work, swapping out panels and spot painting. Found this place by accident - I saw his work and it's excellent. Sandy Taupe is on the horizon - I'm getting tired of UN white.

New clutch is in, motor and trans mounts replaced, transfer case reassembled and the whole unit mounted back under the truck, all exhaust donuts replaced, valve job done.

Is this on the kzj78? How were the motor and trans mounts?
Correct. Motor mounts weren't that bad, I support the motor with an engine hoist and did one side at a time. Easily accessible through the wheel wells right behind the spring perch, a swivel head ratchet really helps. For the trans mount you would support the transfer case and remove the crossmember to replace the mount.

Nice, did you notice a big difference? I don't know what these cars are supposed to feel like, I've never ridden in another one.

all this motor mount talk is gettin me a jealous, mine NEED doing

I finally replaced my rear mount last night. I went for a drive today and my indicator on my shift lever no longer aligns with the different gear labels. I’m assuming there’s a cable that needs to be adjusted?
