Finally got the blank keys I was looking for, but for some reason it just couldn’t happen from a local dealer. Said these exact are NLA despite they are all over eBay.
However this part number is nowhere to be found on partsouq, megazip, and amayama.

Not sure why they didn’t order these for you. Plenty in the US available for order.

They are nice folks but they are just “VIN please”….kind of folks. Kinda adds to the meaning “trust but verify”…..
Why can’t I have an Onur or CruiserDan doppelganger locally?
I don't know either one, but that doesn't mean I can't laugh, right? It may not be worth the trouble.![]()
Thanks for the pic… p/n. I might try and get one myself...Finally got the blank keys I was looking for, but for some reason it just couldn’t happen from a local dealer. Said these exact are NLA despite they are all over eBay.

Hello,
It is simple.
Because they broke the mold after they made Onur / @OGBeno and Dan / @cruiserdan .
And we all regret they did.
Suddenly I miss Grace, my local parts lady, gone ages ago. She was good but they let her go.
Juan
Anyone with a key cutting machine can make you copies, very easy, done it myself with ebay key blanks. It would seem the older vehicles have the more simple profile and the newer Toyota keys have some additional grooves in the profile. I accidentally bought the newer ones on Amazon. Any old fashion hardware store, locksmith etc. can cut copies for you quickly.Yeah, they did break the mold for sure.
So there is an positive update to the key mission I was on: Ended up taking the key blanks from ebay to some key shop located inside of a junkyard called "pick-n-pull" that is about 5 mins from the Toyota plant. It was a completely different experience than the dealership. Guy didn't ask for ID, proof of vehicle ownership and no fancy waiting room with plush leather chairs. The locksmith had a cigarette dangling from his mouth the whole time while cutting them and I gained 3 brand new keys in 10 mins. Preferred cash.
It can be really different when getting service on South side part of San Antonio.
I feel for anyone running into any difficulty with people unwilling to copy a key for them. Simply for information purposes you can "cut your own key" with a rat tale file in less than 10 minutes. Mark the cut centerswith a magic marker and file them down one at a time to match the original. Also both sides are the same on most older car keys to make it a "convenience key" meaning it can be inserted either way. The pins or more likely wafers in the lock cylinder are only lifted by one side of the key.Anyone with a key cutting machine can make you copies, very easy, done it myself with ebay key blanks. That Chinese motor looks better in there than I expected.
Your name popped up in our discussions, sir.![]()

Score any used parts while you were there?Yeah, they did break the mold for sure.
