ARB rear bumper.
Bought an ARB front bumper also but didn’t realize it had to be cut to fit. The ARB fit my sons Troopy w/o mods and his Dobinsons bumper fit the Prado w/ no major issues.
Nice. You just need a decent thing for that hole in the middle ;)
Any plans other than covering it up with the licence plate?

came across this while digging around under the carpet:
CB748D7F-ABC5-452B-97C1-431FD4CD6CF6.jpeg

haven't traced it all out yet. wires to ground, wires out thru body down to a 6 pin toyota female plug zip tied to the frame rail. wires in appear to be power. everything appears to be abandoned. have not confirmed if it is powered yet.

nothing comes up with my skillfully executed web searches...

i have two guesses. one would be a fuel transfer control of some sort or possibly a controller for an e-locker. probably something else not nearly as cool as either of those... anyone recognize it?

in a european hzj73.

Cruise control?

that's possible.

In the electrical section at Lowes with the conduit there is some material called uni-strut that you can purchase in 2 different thickness and in 10 ft sections. I have 2 pieces of that cut to the length of the rack. 2X Holes drilled through the top in the back, and 2 in the front that also go through the factory metal body panel that goes over your head where the dome light is. 1/2 nuts and bolts with fender washers and heavy thick rubber washers and copious amounts of silicone RTV the full length of the Unistrut to bond/bed it to the top and spread out the load so no vibrations/squeaks etc..(If you don't bed it in RTV it will make noise as the top slaps up on it when you hit bumps). When you bed it you barely tighten it down so you don't squeeze out all the RTV, let it sit overnight and then tighten it down. The roof rack is secured to the uni-strut by standard conduit clamps that are made to work with uni-strut. The Uni-strut also significantly reinforces the rack and spreads the load accross the entire length of the roof. If you intend to have limb risers you need to use the thicker uni strut.............2 years now no leaks, no breaks, no problems. I also really don't care what the paint on the top of my top looks like, some people do.
Really considering this method, I have an old front runner roof rack from a Jeep Cherokee I had prior, I don’t think it reaches the metal frame that goes over your head, what are your thoughts if I just have it bolted to the FRP?

You can have the Uni-Strut longer than your rack if you want enabling it to be bolted down the the metal part of the top. The unistrut is sort of "bedded" in silicone RTV caulking which spreads the load, stops noise, and movement. It's also very easy to have multiple piecs of unistrut and more bolts if you want. I only have 4 bolts and it seems to work fine. Just remember to spread the load out on the FRP as much as possible with: Fender washers, rubber washers/vibration dampers, and copious amount of silicone RTV and ensure you set it together and let the silicone set up before you bolt it down tight. If you bolt it all tight immediately the silicone will squeeze out which negats it's purpose. I wish you luck and hope it works out for you. I'll post a pic in the morning when it's light out.

Got a brand new front bumper, courtesy of my dad. Feels almost wrong trading the beat-up dobinsons bumper, which goes perfectly with the beat-up troopy, for the perfect ARB one, that would've gone amazingly with the perfect Prado. At least they both fit now

Sent you a PM but I couldn't put the pics in the PM for some reason. I'm just going to put a couple pics here showing the RTV bedded unistrut and an overall picture. It's a 84 inch roof rack that I cut down a little bit to the length of the roof on the 73. ..... I know I'll get some questions, the radiator underneath the roof rack is the heat exchanger for my intercooler 3/8 in soft copper tubing painted black is bundled with my snorkel and comes up the pillar from under the hood.
