I refurbished my rear cargo door hinges. Top hinge pine was broken and bottom hinge pin was worn. I drilled out bolt holes to gain more adjustment. I then cut and drilled out the original bolt on the top hinge and replaced with a grade 8 3/8X4" bolt..............Lifted up the door and cranked down the bolts for a higher adjustment. Now I can shut the door and have it securely latch without having to lift the door up while shutting.

Got started on @i4c4lo rear bumper.

You’ll be surprised what you will find under the seats now that you have some enhanced lumens.

Kind of why I've been putting this off.......

On the plus side, McDonald’s french fries have an incredible shelf life.

Trying to get in on the fun, is the 77 kit compatible with an LJ78? This would be a nice upgrade with the long dark months up here in WA.

P.M. sent ...... :)

Highly classified intel has determined that the dome light setup in the 77 Series and the 78 Series are one in the same.

One of the local liquor stores was updating their signage so I decided to add a night light to the Cruiser garage. :)

Hello,

Speaking of lights, high beam on Chance stopped working. It was the beginning of a long chase.

I tried the following:
  1. Lights: check.
  2. Engine bay harness continuity: check.
  3. Relay: check. Not bad for a 20 year old part.
  4. Instrument panel continuity: check. I just checked the part involved with the lights.
  5. Ignition circuit continuity (a slight detour, just in case): check.
  6. Ground points: check.
  7. Combination switch continuity: the high beam circuit failed the test.
The high beam circuit involves a multiple position spring that sags over time (and presumably overuse) thus failing to make contact and close the circuit. This spring is soldered on one end: replacing or re-arcing did not work, at least not for more than a few cycles.

Please see the pictures below for the spring in question.

It turned out that I had to replace the entire combination switch. I ordered a replacement, p/n 84310-60571 for a 12V LHD truck.

I have marked the spring with a box on the back view picture.

Out with the old combination switch.

New part installed.

Now I have high beam lights again.

I fit new pistons to connecting rods today. Old pistons had serious melting/heat degradation in valve indention area and piston slap on #3 due to stuck #1 ring and broken#2 ring. I cerekoted the new piston domes with a heat reflective coating and coated the piston skirts with cerekote micro slik lubricating coat. Hoping for a little help preserve a turbo'd engine never meant to be turbo'd........I brushed on the cerekote and oven bake. Appearance is irrelevant. If I had sprayed it pretty I'd post a picture. FYI their 4oz sample bottle will probably do 20 pistons or more brush coat.

I took the Cruiser to a carburetor specialist for adjustment yesterday and after a few dyno runs we found more than 10 horsepower and more than 20 Nm of torque. Much more comfortable to drive and it would seem that fuel consumption dropped quite significantly. The Cruiser looks pretty pathetic when smaller rear tires were put in place for the dyno.

I just got back from a 2,500 mile round-trip trek through New Mexico and Colorado doing the NMBDR route. I’m happy to say that I had Zero issues with the way I mounted the RTT to the FRP top. I didnt take it easy on the land cruiser on the rockier and tougher roads. I had to retighten the bolts and mounts once but that was it.
How did you mount the rear 2 roof racks? Are they bolted through the FRP or fixed to the top of the window surround?
