Due to some injuries my in-laws won't be making it to Pismo for turf-n-surf so there trailer wont be making it as well. So now we are on the hunt for an on demand propane shower and enclosure and some sort of toilet for those middle of the night callings. I am looking for any recommendations.

We were looking at this for shower:

This for toilet:

And this for shelter but I'm not sure:

Shelter looks similar to the one my bro & I got for our Grand Canyon trip. Only negative is trying to get this thing folded back up to store-Co. video makes it look super easy, but in the wild, you need 2 folks to do it- not a big deal tho' Think the cost was ~$30
We opted for the Pett toilet--very easy to set up, and uses the WAG bags-doesn't take up too much space when folded(less than the Luggable Loo)just that this one is in the $60-70 range)
The camp shower we had is VERY simple(plastic 5 gal bag with a perforated drain line-Ozark?)-I think it cost ~ $7(that was several yrs ago, tho')

I bought the portable toilet chair, called Tri-to-go and used it on my last trip. kind of small, very comfortable and easy to
set up and use.

I also just got this Fold-and-go version as well. It seems a bit small too, but more stable. It is kind of short though.

The 5 gal bucket version is quite good if you want to carry a 5 gal bucket, but I don't have the room for that.

The wife likes the look of the fold and go, looks more stable. The 5 gal bucket looks good but I realised I don't have that much room so every inch counts. Any other reviews?

I use a Fiamma Bi Pot 39...about 4.5 gallons of storage...you can dump it in a regular toilet which is pretty handy. As long as you're not drinking 16 gallons of beer and gonna fill it in a day, it will last two people 3-4 days no problem. I'm actually getting ready to list it for sale in the classifieds. I replaced it with the new Thetford Curve, which is really sweet, but pricey. Those buckets seem like an accident waiting to happen

The shower is a no brainer considering you have a pump. Rinse, soap, rinse will easily do a shower with 2 gallons of water. Very few things rival a hot shower while camping....

UPDATE!! ECCOTEMP IS RUNNING A 20% SALE...JUST ENTER 20OFFNOW FOR A DISCOUNT

The tent will be fine, but there's a pretty good learning curve in learning to fold it.

Just keep in mind, if that little enclosure blows over and knocks over your chum bucket, well...

:flush:

We use the PETT toilet, and a sun shower at the moment. And a "Privy Shelter" from Cabelas. It's cheap, and you can hang a sun shower bag in it...

Beware of the folding toilets. I've seen THREE different toilets fail. (thankfully not experienced it myself). You can imagine this ends up in the person using it sitting in their own filth after the toilet breaks. Not a fun experience by any means...

I'm glad I found this topic.
I was always curious to find out how people going to TnS deal with toilet issues. I guess there is nothing built for this purpose on the beach.
Where do you dispose all the waste?

I was using a Zodi for a few years until a few seasons back that I had modified with a kitchen sprayer on it.
I now have a very cool shower that can run on 12V from your rigs battery, or its own built in battery.
All you need is a bucket fill with water.
You can use a small Coleman propane tank with it, or use an adaptor like I do and run it off of a bigger tank.
I use a small 5 lb bottle with mine, and I have been using this for a few years now, and it has been trouble free.

You can also use this to wash dishes, as it has a fold out spigot.
Lots of water pressure, it works great.

Base Camp AquaCube Portable Water Heater/Shower

Been using a PETT toilet since 2008, takes up little space.

We (wife and 2 kids) have used this Reliance folding one for years, works great. Folds up nice and compact.

Reliance Folding Portable Toilet - Walmart.com

Also have a Coleman hot water on demand we have used for several years also, works great too. It's only con is the size/bulk of it, and the cost if not purchased on sale.

We are in the market for a new privacy shelter though. The Sears one I have is a POS. The structure itself is not bad, but I have broken the fibreglass roof bows a couple times (have always been able to order new parts), but that is of little use when it breaks in camp and renders it useless.

Another user here for the Reliance folding portable, since 2012 and still holding. Bags are very good catching / solidifying waste

I use this everywhere, easy up and down. Works great.

Pett toilet like pictured above here since an '06 trip to DV.

Used to own one of those spring loaded pop up enclosures that really would pop right open. I HATED that thing. Even with practice I had 'issues' closing the damn thing! I wouldn't wish one of those :censor::censor::censor: things on my worst enemy.

I've been using the "luggable loo" for years and as far as I'm concerned it can't be beat. I buy the biodegradable bags that you use in the foldable toilet to line the bucket. I keep the bags, T.P. my pee can, my kerosene lamp and fuel and anything else that will fit in the bucket when packing to save on space.
