Removed coil overs and reattached wheel so we can cycle suspension and plan our cuts.

Pinch weld area. Lots of intersections here. Next up remove fender. First snag of the night was the dam antenna- couldn’t get it undone at the fender so had to tear dash apart to unplug from radio and attach pull wire and remove- soaked up a bunch of night one.

I feel your pain. I recently replaced the (power) antenna in a 93 4runner. Had to do just what you did- pull apart most of the dash- to be able to get at the back of the stereo to remove/insert the antenna cable end. Frustrating but that's the way it goes I guess.............. why couldn't you get the antenna loose from the fender? No proper spanner wrench for the nut?

Fender finally clear brings us to night 2. Let the surgery commence! My buddy Greg had the cutoff wheel I was on interior wire and fire patrol.

We tried to carefully get it undone at the fender but it was corroded on. We would have destroyed it trying to get it off- the chrome ring thing instantly broke apart.

Did some cuts then put wheel back on checked then did more cuts ......

Donor sheet metal coming from Nissan Maxima fenders! So I guess the taco is part Nissan.

That’s where we left off last night still have to cap that bottom piece then finish the welds and clean it up- then primer inside and out, seam sealer, more primer than paint. Goal is to look like we were never in there.

Sold off my scrap aluminum today ... $23, worth the effort I suppose. Still have much steel scrap to get rid of, but have a few more bits to come off the LX first.

Parts washer is delayed a day, but should be here by tomorrow when I get back from wheeling. Very excited to play with that and see what it can do.

Played with the parts washer today. Learning how to get both the grease and rust removed.

Went with a mix of 1gal simple green cleaner and ~6gals water for the main tank mix.

Pic for scale:

First test batch. Learned I needed to up the heat and the duration. Still not a bad result overall though.

After 20 mins at 150*F. I tossed in some hose clamps that were covered in oil and PS fluid as well:

Cool, cool, cool ... lets try other stuff.

Some of the rusted parts were still rusty, so I saw a YouTube vid hack on how to use multiple cleaners in the same tank and tried it out. Put parts in a rust removal solution inside a used and cleaned moonshine jar. I tied this one down, but later learned that it will sit in the basket without the anchor.

One part rust removal and 3 parts water.

These came out great after a turn in the wash and then one in the rust removal. They may not look it, but they are clean and smooth to the touch. Ready for paint now. These are the harness stays on the drivers side of the top of the head.

This is the main hoist point, just cleaning on this.

These are the PS line clamps. They were just covered in both oil, PS fluid and rust. Much better now and ready for paint.

I think I will just leave the rust on the bottom, but we will see. Overall I'm pleased with how it works. It does take forever to heat up though (~3hrs to get to 170*F) and we will see if the electric bill takes a hit. Still working out different cleaners to get off really stuck hard grease on bolt heads since the Toyo factory bots have a sunken head design that like to hold packed in dirt and grease. I saw that gas may work effectively for that?

I will try to get up some better before and after pics as well. Saw a video saying I could do the alternator and I think I will try it. Mine is just caked in oil and grime.

If you want to keep playing I’ve got a transfer case I’ll drop off :p

What size is this?

Keep us posted on how long the solution lasts before having to replace it.

This is a 30 Liter (~8 gallon) unit.

seeing how the oil polls at the top, I may try to skim off the oil with a paper towel. Not sure if that will work or not.

PigMat sells "oil only" absorbent mats.

White usually equals oil only:
