Think the chunk getting between the cylinder and the head could have broken the seal and let the coolant slip through?May have not helped the head gasket???

If it was beating on it, maybe?Think the chunk getting between the cylinder and the head could have broken the seal and let the coolant slip through?
Welds and trailer looking good!Trailer is coming along nicely First up today was replacing the incorrect spring hanger and replacing it with the right one. My welds are shaping up ok View attachment 4103117View attachment 4103118
After reading up on it, that chunk out of the compressor wheel is actually a factory balancing technique. Looking at the huge dent on the piston, it was definitely the tip of a glow plug that went in there. That's not good!
Dude! So awesome man. Looking killer behind the GXWas able to take the camper out to James river state park for a test run and it did awesome. Like Alan, I Had to adjust the rear spring mount because mine was to far inward twisting the spring. I also adding two jack points for level camping.

If you are going to take this off road any, I would add two angles, from the tongue to the 2nd crossmember, too help twist on the tongueAdjustable height Awning on. Getting closerView attachment 4103578

So im taking apart my turbo and the compressor wheel has a solid little chunk out of it that I dont think is factory. Looking at this replacement wheel, what do you guys think? Any balance issues that might come from this? Also they sell a "6x6" fin wheel, anyone think there would be any benefits or draw backs from going with the 6 fin rather than the factory 5 fin?
Wasnt planned for a trail trailer but cant hurt to throw them on there. Also the plan is to lengthen the tongue. Too short right now for my liking. Not sure that is happening before Relic but on the list.If you are going to take this off road any, I would add two angles, from the tongue to the 2nd crossmember, too help twist on the tongue
Add 2' of tongue and a little triangulated tongue boxWasnt planned for a trail trailer but cant hurt to throw them on there. Also the plan is to lengthen the tongue. Too short right now for my liking. Not sure that is happening before Relic but on the list.
Like what you are thinkingAdd 2' of tongue and a little triangulated tongue box
You could put a sleeve on it, butt weld, grind flush and then slip sleeve over and weld that up over it, say 12" long sleeve, 6" over each section, or a 3" sleeve and rosette weld into sleeve section.
Like what you are thinking
That will also give me some tongue weight. Im expecting to need some more
I dont have any constructive advice but good luck manEnded up ordering this short block, once it comes in Im going to swap all the do-dads over from the old one. That seemed like the quickest way to get the back on the road. Ill probably run into a slew of things that need to be ordered and replaced in the process.
Wondering if anyones ever gone this route and if they know of some general parts that will probably need to be replaced?
So far im expecting:
-More than likely an oil pan gasket
-Plastic clips (replace ones Ive broken in this process, and just get rid of the pain in the ass design of some of them for something easier to work on)
-Vacuum tubes and any other soft lines
-Any hardware thats in rough shape
-Any gaskets that didnt come in any of the kits Ive got
Also going to get ahold of an EGT kit and install that in the exhaust manifold.
Any other supporting mods that would benefit the longevity and reliability would be appreciated too.
Pray for me fellas!
