Ok. As some of you guys know I sold my 91 OriGinal LC ( I wish I still had this truck) last year only to find and buy my current 97 Lexus with 31k miles and now at 37k miles.

My thoughts are all over the place with my current truck. I wonder how many trucks are out there in this great of shape. And I wonder if I'm sitting on a truck that one can truely say is one of a kind. If I do have such a unique cruiser do I just leave it alone? Do I use it once in a while so that 20 years from now I can say I have this truck. At the moment it sits in my garage for me to cruise down PCH on a weekend drive and the once in a while drive up to Big Bear.

Second, if it's just another cruiser I don't have the money to mod it any ways and it will sit in my garage until I have enough money to do so.

The reason why I even thought about writing this in the first place is because as my cruiser sits in my garage my almost 3 year old daughter keeps scratching parts of the truck here and there. I get bummed out about it but its my daughter so.........

So if my cruiser is just another cruiser waiting to be used then I guess I shouldn't worry about the ocassional scratch by my daughter's big wheel and tricycle or maybe other things that may occur.

I'm putting myself out there and I guess what I'm wanting to here from some of you fellas is **** that will set some of my thoughts straight.

Nice truck but in the end it's just a truck bro not an appreciating asset. You may get a lot more for it later on if you leave it stock and perfect but is that why you bought it in the first place? Also any decent detailer can get rid of those scratches from your daughter so don't fret over that. I suggest you go wheeling in some narrow trails with lots of bushes and get over it. :steer:

Outside the obvious low, low mileage there's nothing else special about it. As Scott has said, it ain't getting any younger and won't make you any money later in life. In fact, with gas prices, it's depreciating even faster now! Ugh!! Use it as you intend to use it. It's a great truck as is.

Just drive it! Why does it need to sit in your garage until you can mod it? Even in stock form, it would be very capable.

BTW, that 91 sure was nice.

I would love a chance to start off with a low mileage FZJ80 if I a opportunity comes up. Mine is hitting 250K and drive it everyday - the most reliable and loveable vehicle owned.
Gas prices be damned! If you own it, you have no monthly payments and low insurance to pay for it. Beats a new car payment and the cost to pay for a new car.

As for being stock, I would say take your time and find out what YOU really want and do with your truck. Getting sucked in without thinking can make you buy/do stuff you really don't need.

If its going to spend time in the garage, just protect (rug or similar) the area prone to Big Wheel scratches.

Like others have said, it's just a truck. The only people that drool over your truck are... well... us. And we are a bunch of cheapskates. With gas approaching $5/ gallon, you are better off parking that Prius and selling it to some idiot that has justified spending $20k on a new car to save at the pump. (no I'm not calling prius drivers idiots)
You have a truck that's proven to go over 250k no problem. Your challenge... take it 250k and enjoy your family.
A car cover will protect your truck while being stored.

Thanks guys. When it comes down to it IT'S REALLY just a vehicle. What I really enjoyed about my 91 is that my daughter would crawl all over the truck and she loved it and I could have cared less if she broke any thing on it. With the LX I'm always careful about it.

I do enjoy driving my truck. At the moment it sits most of the time in the garage cause I drive my Prius ($$$$$$ saver). Eventually I'll mod my truck. I have a boy on the way. I'm sure I'll be taking the wife and kids to explore our local spots. And scratches and sour milk on the seats won't matter.

Oh, and since nobody else has said it on this thread (maybe in your find/purchase thread?) F/U :flipoff2: for finding such a gorgeous low mileage truck! :flipoff2: (heavy sarcasm on the F/U intended here) :D

You know we are all jealeous as hell don't you?

Ha ha ha. Thanks Brent. I needed that. Scott and Mike. I know. Outside of our Mud world people could care less about these trucks. I'm sure my family and I will have fun with this truck once we get exploring. I guess I could have asked the question: What would you do with such a truck?

Like everyone already said.. Bitchen Mileage for sure... but no other real big deal about it. If it was a 64 1/2 Mustang, then maybe park it :D

If it was mine, i'd build it and sleep very well at night knowing the drive train and engine wasn't even hardly broken in.

Since you really don't have the money to modify it, I'ld pull the running boards off, pack your camping gear and go.

Long term, OME medium lift and 285's.

Man look at what a pair of Pink Panties caused!

Score some All Terrains off of CL, call up slee and get his skid plate shipped to you for $120 and start wheeling it...... Oh and take those pink panties off and hang them from your rear view mirror. :p

Ouch! But true! :hillbilly:

Ahhh..... No worries man. I'll take the beerski though.:beer::beer:

Times however many have said already plus one, drive it and enjoy it. I am OCD so I feel you on the scratches, but if you worry about it too much it will ruin the enjoyment you and your family can have with it. Not a museum piece but priceless to someone like yourself (and the rest of us). Enjoy it and relish in the fact that we are all jealous as hell. I would trade my daily driver 4Runner for an LX like yours in a heartbeat. ;)

OG 91 LC - Just my $0.02 but as others have said, it is valuable only to us Cruiser lovers and we are cheap bunch. Keep an eye out in the classifieds for a mild OME lift and 285's. You could mildly mod yours for a very decent price if you're patient.

As for the sales route, you will be upset with yourself if you sell it. So avoid the sellers remorse & just hang on to it. A few bucks spent on getting some carpet remanents and seat covers to protect it from the kid should give you the piece of mind to use it & enjoy it.

Either way you go, good luck!

S.C. Well I do have 285s BF Goodies on it already. I did want to take off the side steps to give it a bit more clearance. I have been giving some thought to a stock height OME lift. I would pull the trigger except I recently purchased a home in Capistrano and most of my money is going to the house. I just saw Roberto's Buttercup at the Dana Point parade and it made me want to mod my LX. no way I would sell it. I sold my 91 OG LC and I wish I could buy it back. I miss it.
