Thanks for moving me over! While we no longer have the LX we do have Fj40, 45, and 2 Fj62 along with a SA 4Runner... We are currently in Texas, Galveston "Enjoying" the winter months in relative warmth. Had the opportunity to get The Juice out on the beach and test out Baja mode... While unsure of the speed limit on the beach I'm fairly sure its not 78 mph.. While we miss our Landcruisers the Bronco has served us well thus far. We will be headed up to Kerrville Feb 2nd just in time for the Cowboy Marti Gras in Bandera on the 3rd. Wont be long and the LSLC Roundup will be upon us. Hope to see a few of you there. Again, thanks for the move over to this side. We look forward to connecting with more folks in the Cruiser family as we make our way around the US.

Long time no update... after 7 months in Texas were headed back North... This week we are in Hot Springs at the off road park with fellow nomads. Seems there is a fun run coming up while we are here. After HS we head to the east coast....of Wi... Will be there all summer. Once we get the Fj62 back out of storage for the summer Ill do a for real update...

The wait is over. Finally, back into one of our LC's. We sold the LX450 in November in favor of a new-ish Bronco SAS. While I like the new car stuff it aint no Landcruiser... I miss the old junk! So, given we are spending this summer in Wi i figured it would be cool to have the 62 as a second vehicle... so we went and picked up the 62 in central Wi.

Good lord I missed that thing!! Since November we covered a great deal of ground and met many new folks. Grapevine to Galveston then over to Kerrville exploring Hill Country for Blue Bonnett season. We headed North second week in May with a stop over in Hot Springs for a Nomad gathering. Happened to be at the off road park a week before Razor Back Ramble. Wish we could have stuck around for that but we had to get North.

We made a stop at Lake Egyptian IL for Memorial weekend and dodged a tornado. Luckly, the Stop and Go had a beer cooler we could take cover in. Made for a great story and Poppy got to play support dog for a scared 10 year old boy. that was a close call!!

Currently we are in Two Rivers Wi chillin by the lake, and I mean Chillin! Temps are moderate and humidity is low... dont mind the skeeters to much when you have nice cool weather. We will be there through July 4th weekend then we head to Oshkosh. I have had several trips for wok but will settle in after next week to enjoy the region. Good to be back in the woods, 1/2 mile walk to the big lake. No salt or sharks..

Spotted a very cool Red Toy in Sheboygan Wi last weekend after visiting Plymouth for the cheese festival.

We are traveling with fellow nomads from Texas and introducing them to Wisconsin. They ask so many questions. For example. They had no idea you could order a Old-fashioned Sweet, or Sour... They are used to Boooozy OF... and, they have not experienced bloody marry like Wi do. And they are enamored with the endless amount of amazing dive bars along with Supper Clubs...

We also discovered "FastCat" at the local dog show las weekend. What it amounts to is dog racing. 100 yards, they get official times and we have a pretty fast dog. She loves in... just 6lbs cranking out 23 mph...

We will check the club section for cheese head LC gatherings, meantime.. Always fun getting to connect with the LC Community.

Hows the Bronco ?
So far we have put roughly 22K miles since purchase.
Like:
Its fun to have new stuff, this is the first new car either of us has ever owned.
Its got all the stuff, with the SAS package it locked, armored up and ready for the trail.
It goes fast, comparatively anything has pep. the 2.7 Twin Turbo really gets it, especially in Baja mode.
Comfy on long trips, really drives well.

With our lifestyle, and my work travel I feel much better leaving @razzoo with a modern vehicle under warranty, dont get me wrong... She knows her way around a Cruiser but it give me one less thing to worry about when I head out for work on Monday. While she gave in to my desire for a Bronco with some hesitation she has really come around to loving it.

Dislikes:
Its does not have nearly the room for "stuff" that the LX does, or the 62 for that matter. I don't think it would be great for overlanding or multiple days off grid.
Its not a LC... I really do miss the LX, I'm keeping an active eye out for the right LC100 build.
With the soft top its loud, not as loud as a J**P but still... and we expected that so its really not a huge deal, its very utilitarian vehicle.

End of the day, Its my opinion, and mine only that Toyota has failed the offroad community. Ford really build this car with our community in mind. They did it right... I think you would be hard pressed to get a Toyota or Jeep with similar capabilities for the price. When the new LC/4Runner came out it solidified my decision.. Pretty sure they are the same car.

Meantime, back in Gods country. We have dubbed this the Summer of Supper Clubs. Friends of our we travel with posted up a great check list for Wi. If you have not been.... get it on the list. Especially the east coast... Wisconsin Checklist - The Virtual Campground - https://thevirtualcampground.com/wisconsin-checklist/

Oshkosh airshow was another amazing experience this summer. Were not into aviation, but man... this was a must do. the friggin fireworks were epic! Airplanes, loaded up with fireworks, flying through.....fireworks FFS! We found perhaps the friendliest little RV park in Wisconsin. OshVegas, Palms Springs resort. While Marty has taken some liberty with the word "resort" it all comes down to how one defines "resort".. Looked a little Sketch at first, and we had a plan "B" but once we got settled it became a fast favorite.

We find ourselves over on the West side now closer to the Twin Cities.... direct flights!! Man, this has been the year of the delayed flight... When we arrived, we were greeted with an amazing light show!

We will be in the region for a couple of months, hope to get Roy and @razzoo Fj40 out for a spin more than once. There is a car show we enjoy in September in Osceola. Happens to be accompanied by an air show. Supper clubs and air shows... what a summer!

My goodness time slips by. going on 6 years into a 2-3 year plan. And still loving every stop. A ton of things since last post.

We spent Sept and a good chuck of Oct 24 in Cincinnati... again! So much to love about that town including my Bourbon adventures. We also had the pleasure of going to Rabbit Hash KY that fall and met up with Chris Fryman, it's been since BHCC 2001 since we have seen him. Always great to reconnect with fellow Cruiser folks.

We left Cincy and head down to Red Bay for some remods on the Coach. New carpet, theater seating, fridge and floor replacement on the driver's side slide. Two weeks of service work done and now ready for the next 5 years. While at Red Bay we visited Muscle Scholes area and the great recording studios. We made our way down to Gulf Shores AL and reconnected with fellow nomads we had met in Spearfish the previous year.

For the holidays we decided to stay in Perdido Key. Once of our favorite stops in the Gulf. We found an RV park there several years ago and vowed to get back. This was going to be a Gulf Shore Gypsie winter. If you ever get a chance to get that way do so! What we did not count on was a snowstorm. That was fun getting the Bronco on the Florida coast looking for snow drifts. Daily Blue Angles Air shows did not disappoint. Weather permitting.

Jan 25, we made our way across the gulf and ended up in Port St Louis for a month. Some terrific little town to explore along that route. We took a little detour one weekend and made a trip up to see @wngrog . Got a tour of the property and ended up having lunch with Nolan and Red. Two Red Heds in one place... We survived. We decided we needed to see New Orleans up close and ended up spending 8 days at a state park just outside of town. We were able to see 3-4 Marti Grass parades up close! Happy to have experienced that... consider the box checked. Highlight of that trip was the WW2 world war museum. That is a must.

We then headed North to Dallas to reconnect with friends in the region for a few weeks. Soon after we ended up in OKC as Cross Canadian Ragweed had a reunion show in Stillwater and we had tickets for the Thursday night show!

During the year, starting bout Oct, we found out a builder was building Garage Condos about 1 mile from our Wisconsin campground. In Jan 2025 we closed on one of the unites. the shop is 45' deep, 25' wide and we had a mezzanine built as to accommodate a living room of sorts. We also had a bathroom put in to make it complete. We moved most of our stuff out of storage, once again giving much to goodwill and selling some other stuff. I think this is the 4th time we have downsized. We have room for all our cars in one space, @razzoo gets to have her living room while we are visiting the North country. It's a fantastic space that we are both enjoying. After 5 years out it really was the only thing, we were missing.

Oct 2026 we made our way out of Wisconsin and back to Hill Country Texas. We made it just in time for Wurstfest in New Braunfels. So far this winter we have seen a ton of shows at Gruene Hall, Devils Backbone and elsewhere. Jen flew back to Wisconsin for the holidays and drove the Dragon Fly back down so we would have 2 cars while in TX. I still work, and travel weekly so its nice not to have to drop me at the airport weekly.

Last weekend we got the 62 off road for the first time, what a blast that car is!! Looking forward to LSLC Roundup in March. Hope to see you there!

Our trip home included another stop in Teton for a couple days and a day in the Badlands. We did a morning float down the snake river, amazing! And another early drive through the badlands that finally allowed us to spot some bison in the park.

Back in TX until end of April. Hope to see you at the Roundup this year in Mason TX, or if you spot an Fj62 on a random day in the hill country give us a wave.

Greg, you gonna make it to Wyoming or the Black Hills with us this year?

So far that is not in the plans. But plans do change, and we LOVE Spearfish. We are dialed in until end of July... We may head further North for August and head up to Lake Superior. Or, East to Lake Michigan and perhaps the UP.

Last week we got the 62 out to Hidden Fallas for a little offroad adventure. @razzoo was in charge of pics. Was a great time, always fun to wheel a stock rig again. Wheelbase and pace win the day. Was impressed with how well we did. We for sure had the oldest rig in the group. 1 issue popped up, 4WD would not disengage. We drove home in 4WD with hubs unlocked. A little sleuthing on Mud narrowed down the issue to a seldom used vacuum valve that controls the disengage function. Flipped hoses on the vacuum actuator and we were back in 2WD. Ordered the $16 parts just in time for the ice storm. Hidden Falls proved a nice shake down run for LSLC Roundup in March. Maybe get back out there with the Juice.

In between I drove the 62 to H-Town last week for work. @razzoo has let me know on more than 1 occasion that the headlights suck and are border line dangerous. Found out, firsthand.... good lawd they are bad. PO has been approved for headlight upgrade.

Found out last week I had to report to Jury duty in Feb! I travel for work weekly, Feb is not going to work. Come to find out the folks in Sioux Falls are very accommodating. They allowed me to move it to September. So, were looking for decent RV parks within an hour of the airport. Found a few, but they don't do monthly. Looking like summer plans are coming together.
