Great shot!! Man, I was a mess that day…. Buck Island was spectacular that night…. Jumping in at moonlight.
That full moon was so spectacular. Nice little bit of perspective on a long hard day.

Fast forward 5 weeks. We spent 3 weeks in Spearfish. We were not able to attend BHCC as we had close friends in town with us that weekend. We managed to hit Spearfish canyon, Needles, Custer state park and took a glance at Camp 5 road. We will be back. We headed north for annual maintenance on the house. Added 30 amps of solar power to aide in boon docking.. new AC unit finally arrived. We rented a cabin in Alexandrea Mn for the week....was kinda strange sleeping in a house again. We are now up in Grand Marais Mn reading for the famous Gunflint Trail. In search of some dirt roads that will give the Radflo shocks a run for their money. These things chew up dirt roads... any speed you like.. even the wife admits they were worth whatever it is we paid for them... Like all things landcruiser, i lost the receipt.

If you have not been to Black Hills.... you have to get there... Id say the same about Grand Marais.. We will be taking a week off and heading into the woods next week. Rubicon to the Gunflint in 5 weeks....

Almost there with the suspension. While back in Hudson Wi I have the Ironman 4" springs, Valley Hybrid HD steering and tie rod upgrade, OME steering dampener and rear HD sway bar monunts burned into the frame. Also added Dobson rear adjustable pan hard bar... Its an impressive bit of work.... Still waiting on HD Whiteline rear sway bar, that arrives on Tuesday and I should have it in next week.

Truck sits nice and level. Springs should settle in some so @razzoo wont need a step stool to get in the damn thing. All of this started with RadFlo reservoir 2.5" shocks that started with the 33rd Rubithon. The dobson rear pan hard is mega beefy... Love the way it drives... have to find me a few dirt roads to put it to the test next....

Meantime we started our second year of full time travel. This setup should work well when we hit Colorado in Oct. Did someone say 37s? Make it stooooop!!

Rewind..... I went back to OME HD springs. Ride height was just too tall, this is our ONLY vehicle and i was not comfortable with the idea of @razzoo having to use a step stool to get in and out of the truck. I ordered up and had a local shop here in KC install the new springs. Ride height is where it needs to be and its a more practical getting in and out of the vehicle.

What we have now is a slightly used set of 4" IronMan lift springs that i need to recoup some costs on. I'm in KC for the nxt 2 weeks, then Grand Junction then back in the DFW area., Make me a decent offer and these babies are yours! No room on the bus...

In other news we spent the weekend at the Kansas Speedway competing in the American Royal. Happy to say we placed a very respectable 95th out of close to 500 teams of very good cooks, chefs and restaurateurs...we beat out some very big names....

here is a little sample for your viewing pleasure. If you have interst in the springs please ping me.. 715-410-ZERO-614

Made the trip form KC to Ouray over the weekend. Great spot, amazing scenery. Many, many Cruisers to oggle. Second set of new springs have truck back to base line and provided enough lift to keep new shocks from bottoming. Hope to get some dirt roads in rocks in over the next week ore so. Met a couple in route wile boondocking in Denver, @1972FJ40 Was parked in the same overnight as we were. Had a great time telling stories and talking about our Cruiser addiction. Todd and his wife had recently visited Ouray and pointed us to some hot spots. At camp we ran into a GX470 couple who are living in Houston and are from St Paul. We both graduated from the same high school. Loving all these "small world" moments.

Meatime, if your from the region and want to gather for a beer let mew know... and if you need 4" lift springs i can deliver.

You are staying in the middle of the Solid Axle Summit venue base camp. We’ve always wondered how aggravated those folks must be up in that house above the back side of the campground 😆. Enjoy your homelessness. Great time of year to be there. Cooling off. Hope you can go back next August for SAS.

Glad to hear the suspension is doing well. I see all these guys with really sexy looking stuff, but don’t think I can part with the utilitarian OME heavies installed by the PO. Hard to beat…

I went back to the OME Heavies. Love where its at now. I was following SAS Summit, web wheeling while in Grand Marais. This is Jens trip, we are gathered with 40 other full timers, and yes, that house up there will be hearing plenty from us. Today we head over to Telluride. Fall colors are jumpin!

Thank you for sharing all the pictures and information with us.

@FMC80 and @OffRoadScott Thanks fellas, we are blessed to be able to do this. Would not be possible without the Cruiser community and my wife @razzoo as she is as much a part of this dream as I am. We continue to meet folks and reunite with Cruiser brothers and sisters across the country.

Had a great day today, we took off after work and hit Ophir pass over to Telluride with a Jeeper buddy of ours. The fall colors are off the charts, does not seem real. I DO NOT like heights.... this was a pretty good challenge for me, even though most think this is a fairly simple pass. Hell, we spotted a suberu out there.. Telluride was amazing, we spotted a pristine 70-ish Fj40 in town... naturally we stalked them... cuz thats what we do @razzoo got the drone up so we are hoping we got some good shots from above.. We are also on Instaface @we.go.now

I think part of the fun is seeing other Cruisers on the road and giving them a wave. I don't see many where I am but on the rare occasion it happens, there is a mutual exchange of waves. Kinda like Harley riders. Hope to see you and your wife on the off-beaten path one day.

Little more exploring with the group yesterday. We went out with a group of photographers and i was asked to drive some folks and equipment around. The views are never ending out here, simply amazing. And we are spotting more Fj60, 62 and 40s than any other place we have been. Good to see the old iron out there buzzin around the hills still. One more day exploring the region, then we head east to Oklahoma for a couple of weeks. Maybe stop by and see the fellas at Cruiser Corps again.

Day to day... Some travel days you make better time than others. We wanted to get over to Trinidad CO but @razzoo was not feeling well. We spotted a small town of Amarosa Co and decided we would call it a day. Found a great spot downtown with terrific connectivity to allow me to work uninterpreted Monday and Tuesday. In route we took notice of the Great Sand Dunes National Park. Its was within 30 miles of our home for the next couple of days. After work today we took off in search of that next patch for the LX. What we did not know is like Big Bend it had a 4x4 trail we could explore. Some deep sand, a creek crossing and beautiful fall colors with amazing views. Wish we could have done the entire pass but daylight was burning. I was able to assist a big Ford truck in teh deep sand buy showing the kid how to lock in his hubs.. Old fat ruck did surprising well in the deep sand. I experimented a bit and found low, second gear start fully locked made the stuff pretty easy. Tuesday we will continue our march to OKC... happy we stumbled on this place.. sorry about the massive photo... not sure what i did there.

That Medano Pass trail in the back of Great Sand Dunes is really fun. I’ve done it once dry with great sand along the trail and once during a big thunderstorm after raining all day and it was totally different…

Well... Sunday we welcomed this adorable little vehicle to the fleet. 2008, GX470 non-nav. I know, its not a Landcruiser so I risk banishment from this forum. We have been keeping an eye out for a non-nav GX 08/09 for some time now. Price was right as was the timing. The plan for the next year does not involve much if any off road adventures. We will leave the LX with family in Texas and outfit the GX for flat towing. We will miss the LX, but welcome the spunk the GX provides...Fresh paint via Lexus warranty, new fabric on the front seats and this thing rips! Cup holders and audio are worthless, have to find solutions there.... Should be a fun build over the next few months. For homeless folks we have way too many cars.... if thats possible.

Niiice. May sure they take care of the LX and keep it in a garage!

Florida! So far so good. Miss having the big fat LX in tow but the GX has served us well up to this point. Got it all setup for flat tow. Used the existing Blue Ox tow bar, added base plate, new break and lights to the GX. A pretty heavy tax for dragging it along but its the life we have chosen. The build plan on the GX will be mild as we are not going to do any hardcore overlanding with this one.

If you reside in Florida... would love to connect and see what you call off-roading around here... so far from our POV its beach wheeling.
