I am in search of a water pump for my 85 FJ60 with fan clutch and oil cooler. I thought I had found an Aisin that would fit, but alas the vendor was wrong about it being Aisin.
From my research there are few options. Has anyone had good or bad luck with any of these? I am leaning to the GMB at this point.

GMB p/n GWT89A and 170-1890
NPW p/n T51
Beck/Arnley p/n 131-1993
US motor works US9337

Any advice would be appreciated

Are all 2F water pumps rebuildable, or only certain ones?
I have not seen every type of water pump ever offered on the 2F but I'll bet that most are rebuildable. It used to be that nobody rebuilt them because buying new was cheap & easy.

They are all able to be rebuilt. Sourcing the correct seal and the OE Koyo bearing for the Aisin is impossible and costs more than the new GMB, which is no longer made in Japan.

I’ve ordered 2 pumps for my application…85 2f that has a fan clutch & oil cooler. One from CruiserOutfitters that is made in Japan which will arrive later this week. And one from Amazon which I got today…a Beck Arnley #131-1993.

Ordered the Beck Arnley because I was having difficulty finding one for my application, & having ‘something’ was better than nothing. Then a day or 2 later CruiserOutfitters contacted me & they had one in stock after all AND it was made in Japan, so I ordered it also.

So today I opened my Beck Arnley 131-1993. My take: do not order this unless you are ok with your pump being Made in China. I’m going to keep it & just put it on the shelf & install the CruiserOutfitters Made in Japan pump when/if I need it. I just started this purchase journey once I found out they were somewhat difficult to source. One on the shelf is good…2 on the shelf is better.👍🧰👍

Writing this just to make people aware that the Beck Arnley 131-1993 is Made in China.

What does the pump look like? I'm just wondering if GMB also has manufacturing in China... They were in Thailand and Taiwan. I can't find any pix of the unboxed current B/A pump.

@Spike Strip here’s a couple of pictures of the Beck Arnley 131-1993. No other markings anywhere & no paperwork.

Sure looks like the GMB.

Prolly a good backup. Looks like a quality casting and they even marked the fasteners to show they've been torqued- That's a QA step.

Thanks for posting. 👍
Agreed on both counts. When the one from CruiserOutfitters gets here, I will try to verify that it was actually made in Japan.

Keep us posted, did you order p/n EGW61081JP from CruiserOutfitters?

Yes, that’s the one I purchased. Supposed to arrive Saturday.

The NPW T51 79 through 87 2F with oil cooler and fan clutch, is an excellent aftermarket water pump. It's great that cruiserTeq is importing these as they're otherwise very difficult to find in the US.

The NPW (EGW61081JP) on CruiserTeq website says 1976-1979. It also fits up through 1987? They also have a "house branded" one, part number EGW61081AFT, that lists 1979-1987 for applicable years, but there's no indication it's NPW or made in Japan.

Or are you guys ordering non-listed, secret-sauce stuff straight from Kurt? I'm thinking with these things drying up I should maybe get a spare to keep on the shelf. Mine was replaced with a Japanese Aisin about 4 years ago but you never know.

Read the whole description. I missed it first time too.

Fitment:Japanese Aftermarket Water Pump - Fits 08/1976-01/1979 California Spec & 01/1979-07/1987 2F Federal Spec (EGW61081JP)

So, what is the difference between the 8/'76-1/'79 Cali spec and Fed spec water pumps?
