Definitely started off wrong...though we dont know what is really above where we are viewing from. I bet the dropoff to the left was pretty gnarly as well which was prompting him to steer right....should have let the left tire ride the edge down.

However, I HATE downhills. HATE them. Having no real good visual as you descend can get a little iffy.

He may have thought that, but riding a mushy edge with a drop below is a really bad idea because tgere will almost always be some side-slip in loose dirt.

The more gnarly, the more reason to nose into it. Or...if it was truly a HOLE or a wall on the left that we can’t see...**back up, and take a new line** starting from the right.

Oh well. We all make mistakes (and I’ve really lucked out a couple times). Worth thinkin about tho! :)

Both very good videos to learn from. He neither had the right tires nor the right line . He wanted to steer right yet the truck wanted to stay to the left. With absolute no traction and truck going sideways, it was a disaster waiting to happen. Pucker factor 7/10. The second video, it was scary with a pucker factor 9/10.

I am not sure what type of tires were on the second one, but I think that could have been avoided as well.

My opinion, the driver of the 200 was on his brakes a lot. Which indicates to me he wasn’t in low gear, low range, and did not allow the 200’s engine to do the work of compression braking going downhill.

Agreed. Unfortunate but very much preventable carnage.

That second hill was super steep. Both front tires lifted off towards the top. I am guessing that hill has seen a lot of carnage. Agree that the roll was preventable.
