I'm trying to find out what it would take to make a r150f out of my 94 4x4 four runner fit in my 88 4x4 pickup. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

A turbo bell housing
Thank you for your reply. Do you know if my old driveshafts will still work? I also have the ones out of the 4 runner. I'm just gonna use the t case that's still attached to the r150f to. Again.. Thankyou

Maybe the turbo bell housing is shorter and will make up the difference, and I'll still be able to use same drive shafts. Thank y'all for all the help

Pretty sure theyre within 1/2". IIRC when i went from the w56 to r150 the adaper plate (R to mini case) made the trans the same length
The turbo BH is the proper length for pre tacoma r150. Hydraulics swap.

Gnob I really appreciate all your help buddy. I feel a whole lot more confident about this job now.

Might be a problem with that - doesn't the front output on the '88 and the '94 drop on opposite sides?

I would really like to have this r150f transmission behind my 22re, but I'm really hoping I won't have to change driveshaft length.

I don't understand the problem. Getting driveshaft lengths adjusted is not a big deal.

Oliver's. Gotcha. I'll have to do something soon, the old w56 has got a rattle to it when in 4th and 5th climbing and loosing rpms. Which happens a lot with the weak 22. Couldn't pull a greasy string out a cat's ass.

Well none of them are powerful. Mine is really bad with 4.10s and 35s. Could look into getting your 56 rebuilt.
