That letter is hilariously pathetic and the fact that he sent it to the wrong person hahaha

How many orders do you guys think he could have shipped out in the time it took for him to print that out and have his family members write that out, or any of the other victim novels he wrote on here. The guy was simply dishonest and greedy, a bad person doing bad things for money.

I...The guy has used every tool at his disposable to manipulate and hide the situation to keep extracting money while purposefully neglecting his end of the bargain. From fake pictures to fictitiously display how busy he was to blocking members in manipulation of the forum tools to hide problems all the way to the zany and sometimes maniacal approach to brushing away customers who simply wanted some communication. ...
Totally get it and understand. I guess I am fortunate enough to not have personally experienced this with him. My only complaint was paying for something in March and I get it in October. Dishonest? Didn't have it? I don't know. But if I order something, even being a single-person operation...a MONTH is more than beyond reasonable to fulfill it. I agree with you all, shipping is a good problem and an easy one to knock out.

To me, his talk of parts, posting and boasting about them was akin to going to school to hang out with friends. Delivering them was the homework.

Great analogy there...

That's actually the craziest part as procuring inventory, listing it for sale and advertising it is by far and away the most difficult and most time consuming part of an e-commerce business. But he had plenty of time to do that of course because that is what made him money.

Shipping orders out is monkey work and incredibly straight forward and easy, it takes very little time in comparison and everything is streamlined no matter what your product line is even if he was using shopifys crappy shipping system off his site, it's even easier than that with other free software available. It's nothing but a simple quick task, it requires no thinking.

That's not even to mention all the time he spent here playing victim instead of just saying "here is your tracking info" as he could have shipped that persons order in less time than it took him to write out his rude victim post reply to them.

Not shipping an order out because you're too busy is not a thing, I'm sorry it's just not it makes no sense. Shipping it a day or two late okay not ideal but sure fine, shipping some crazy freight order and it takes a few days to load it up on the pallet and wrap then wait for the trucking company yea okay that makes sense, hell maybe even you took a long weekend vacation which is crappy to leave your customers hanging but still it happens. But not shipping out small orders for months, as someone who has multiple e-commerce operations I'm sorry that is just not a real thing there is no reason for that other than you are doing something dishonest. Either that or you're just that damn lazy, but no he had plenty of time and energy for other activities related to the business....good or bad, because they made him money.

But of course shipping orders out is hard to do when you don't actually have what you offered for sale, or you're pulling some other dishonest BS and can't ship it out yet.

The thing many are missing about the Headlamp harness kit was Matt was installing balanced pair of not-available-in-the-USA Japanese or Korean LED bulbs in them. They weren't just the same kit as the dealer sells with stock halogen bulbs. He was taking the base kit and individually tweaking each 'kit' for optimal function. He's kinda the Daniel Stern for Cruisers... I don't know what he did to them. I didn't buy one as I already had upgraded headlamp harness on all my Cruisers.

Yea I don't necessarily have an issue with that, claiming you're some great part of a community as he liked to do is hard when you're doing something like that but at the same time without that into consideration I feel like that is just shrewd business.

We've had well renowned vendors doing much worse than that around here very recently while acting like they are providing some service to the community from the goodness of their hearts, doing it as I type.

To be "fair", I never actually got scammed by Matt in the 2 orders I had placed with him. However, they each took forever to receive. One order, which was a full set of locks for my 45, I literally had to follow up with him at least 10 times (I just looked back through our texts) and it took just over 3 months to receive a partially correct order. He did eventually make good on it but sheesh.

Here is the thread where I called him out on overcharging for a Toyota fuse. He was selling then for $8 a fuse when I was getting each one from Toyota for about $1.50. I kinda regret telling him the oem part number because I knew he was gonna order as many as he possibly could and exploit it to his benifit. But maybe I was able to help somone else out too. Not that Toyota part numbers are a secret or anything, but him being an "expert" told me they were no longer in existence from Toyota .

Great idea. Maybe sell these and use the proceeds to start a victims compensation fund? These are available now for pre-order at my online store

I’ve long since got over spending $18 for a $3 dollar early FJ-45 SILCA key blank that Matt initially cut on his fancy Toyota Key cutting machine. He then told me to take the key to the local locksmith and have it cut it to the lock number. After taking it to the local locksmith I was told that the key was worthless for the 45 as it had been cut to low by Matt.

Now I’m more upset with you over the fact that I just clicked on your link to actually buy one of these t-shirts (because I think they’re hilarious) and it took me to a YouTube video…🤦🏻‍♂️😏🤣

@tex45 so now you and Matt have something in common….you have both conned me. ☹️🤣

Forgot about this.
That's fantastic.
I say that not meaning fantastic that people got cheated out of money and time, but fantastic as in there is someone out there worse than me.

edit: Would it be in poor taste to make "I was conned by ToyotaMatt and all I got was this lousy t-shirt" gear?

I’ll buy two, make it happen.

While I was the first person ToyotaMatt banned/blocked, it was because he was taking advantage of the general ignorance people have of how the Toyota system works. This was over ten years ago.

I called him out on it. I got banned/blocked.

I’ll be the first person to say that I sold Toyota parts as well for over a 17 years; in various businesses and various positions in different entities, mine and others, official Toyota and as an independent parts expert. I have engaged with most everyone on MUD in one way or another over the past 20 years.

What I always said was that you are paying for expertise; You are not paying for the part. And if expertise was not what you wanted, then it was good for you and for me to find another source for your parts.

When I fǔcked up, I took care of it; when I was right, it was good. Life went on

Now, with the proliferation of “information”, most people don’t need an expert. IH8MUD has become the conduit for expertise. Bravo @woody and the awesome place IH8MUD has become for the true enthusiasts in our small world of Land Cruisers.

Unfortunately, it’s put experts out of business. Such is the way the world has changed. AI will continue doing the same.

That said, ToyotaMatt is a cautionary tale of how the image becomes a reality.

And, to be clear, ToyotaMatt is not on drugs. He’s not an alcoholic. He’s nothing nefarious.

He is disabled. And I think at this point this thread needs to end. I feel bad for the guy. And I’m the first person he banned. And I was his harshest critic mainly because he was going down the road of bullshǐt. He doesn’t know the difference. He has people in his life supporting the one thing he knows, Toyotas.

He is a disabled man.

Let’s get over it at this point. If you have money tied up with him, I wish you the best. I hope you can recoup your positions; I hope you are able to make amends.

But to reiterate, he is a disabled person. No need to kick a person with DNA he didn’t choose. He thought he was doing what was good for his mental world.

Nothing he sold was anything special. It was packaged well. And most everything in this fũcked up world is all about packaging.

I recommend continuing to support the stalwarts of this community. You know who they are. No need for me to call them out. They already watch this thread well.

It’s important to understand that humans are humans; they make mistakes. I know I’ve made some terrible ones in my life.

I think it’s valuable to move on. So, you spent $25 more on a 81170-60P70. So be it. Life goes on.

EDIT: and to clarify: I’m not justifying, supporting, whitewashing his business; or at all speaking from any position of authority or sanctioning any of Matt’s business dealings. Nor am I speaking for IH8MUD. I’m just looking at this as a human being.

Exactly what I was trying to say - and what I'll agree with/get behind @OGBeno. <edit> I do disagree on one point however, after re-reading your post.... I actually believe some of the things he sells are special. (battery cable sets, ground cable sets, kits for certain things that make it easy to get all of the hardware for the job, on and on). That and his quirky spin on all things Toyota. That made it special.

@OGBeno and I talked about this probably 4-5 years ago. I too had some strange dealings with Matt with phone call at midnight.

First I was pissed he was calling at that time but as I listened to him ramble it was evident it was most likely being driven by mental illness. He kept referring to how we were friends and all was good. This after I had ordered probably $600 in parts.

Shame on me for not going to Onur first as he has assisted me many times when it came to buying parts.

Anyway, from medical standpoint I truly think Matt deals with some Bipolar mental illness with the ups and downs that aren’t being treated or treatment isn’t effective. He has exhibited on many occasions the depressive and manic sides of the condition.

I haven’t ordered from him since but I haven’t chimed in either on any other threads. It’s damn near impossible to reason with folks like this.

It’s sad how many folks have been affected by this and I’m definitely not implying he did nothing wrong.

Matt’s sales tactics were entertaining at the least. For all that’s happened there are no excuses.

I truly hope the young man can get his life on track in some form or fashion.

Similar to this sticker I saw last year.

It really is sad when people crash and burn, especially when they started out with the best intentions.

But that sticker is funny.

Should be fast shipping on stuff like this. Snooow version. Lol

Looks pretty darn close to me. Maybe Amazon will trim the labels for me if I buy enough of these in bulk.

The "OEM TYPE" is a bit shady but honestly I don't even have a problem with that. That's just business, lots of companies mark things up just for putting their name on it or driving the traffic to their site that is really common. Buying things from Amazon and reselling them is a bit redundant and there really isn't that much meat on that bone but then again he probably bought just one to take pictures and then buys them as needed, of course he doesn't exactly ship fast so making someone wait isn't a problem for him. Looking at it like that then yea I guess it becomes pretty crappy to do.

The real problem is doing this on top of not shipping customers their orders and selling things you don't have. Then using the veil of being part of some "community" to make it okay. That you're doing us all a favor by making money off of us and providing garbage service while everyone thanks you for it allowing the next guy to get played. He's not the first one to pull that crap he's just the latest one to implode.
