Update on my previous post. A friend made some parts for me and some went to fit some NOS casters onto my vintageToyota cabinet. I previously took it completely apart and buffed everything out. All that’s left to do it put a nice wood top on it.

That’s cool. Wish there was a way to really date it. It’s one of my cooler Toyota pieces. My wife hated it inside the house, but likes it now. 😂

The STAR program came out in 1980/81. I remember handing those cabinets to wholesale customers in that time-frame. I was the dealership's "STAR Rep" at that time.

Mine looks to be the same vintage as yours Matt. Got it in 1990.

A 26MM "TOYOTA MOTOR" socket had been eluding me for three or four years now. Finally came across one and it arrived a few weeks ago. It's nestled between the 24 & 27 (KTC didn't manufacture 11, 13, 15, 16, 18, 20, 25, 28, or 31mm sockets for Toyota). Most everything in the photo is stamped "TOYOTA MOTOR", predecessors of the later tools which were stamped with just "TOYOTA". A 1000mm extension bar was produced (part 09014-12100), but have never come across one. Also have never been able to find a 1/2" sliding T (09016-12300), to complement the 3/8" version pictured below. The search continues for those two...

And here are several screwdrivers, Torx drivers, nut drivers, and a flexible magnet. Most were available for purchase from Toyota directly back in the early 80s (some from the 70s).

Starting from top to bottom (right side)
  • Acrylic-handle magnet, available starting in the early 70s. Stamped TOYOTA MOTOR
  • (+) and (-) screwdrivers with long shafts. Have not seen these lengths in any Toyota catalog. TOYOTA MOTOR
  • Black-handled "TEQ" screwdriver from a mid-60s Toyota Noritsu folding bike tool kit.
  • Beige-handled screwdriver from mid-60s knitting machine kit. TOYOTA
  • Black-handled screwdriver from mid-70s Toyoda sedan tool kits. TOYOTA MOTOR
  • Yellow acrylic-handled clip removal tools from early 80s (possibly early 70s) TOYOTA MOTOR
  • Acrylic-handled TORX drivers sizes 10, 20, 25, & 30 (two dups below) available from early 80s (possibly early 70s). TOYOTA MOTOR JAPAN.
  • Yellow acrylic-handled screwdriver commonly seen in 70s era Land Cruiser and other vehicle tool kits. This one is stamped TOYOTA TEQ MOTOR, while later versions are stamped only TOYOTA MOTOR. The shaft is reversible to both (+) and (-) as you all know :).
The 9 screwdrivers and 2 nut drivers on the left comprise a full set of 11 and were available starting in the early 80s also, but may date back to the 70s. Just not sure about the initial year of production. Magnetic and non-magnetic versions were available. I believe the non-magnetic versions are slightly earlier but again, I've never been able to substantiate the exact production dates of each type. The stubbies and smaller (-) screwdriver are marked TOYOTA JAPAN because of the size limitation of the handles, others are stamped TOYOTA MOTOR JAPAN. The green acrylic-handled nut drivers at the bottom are 8mm & 10mm.

Ok so last year for Christmas, I got myself the coolest gift ever. I’ve since added to it as I can. Note, this box still has a ton of room believe it or not.

like I said, a ton of room in this box. Seriously

these are 1/2 Drive sockets in 12 point. I don’t trust 12 point sockets on 6 point bolts. That’s just me.
  • 32mm
  • 30mm (like I’m really going to trust this on the 1fz crank 6 point bolt which is torqued to 306 ft pounds, yea ok mr. T, sounds like you setting me up to destroy that bolt and eff my life) wish this was 6 point.

Red #2 JIS Toyota mini screwdriver (if you need to remove the cowl off an 80 series, this is your bff tool)
Adapters like 1/2 to 3/8 and 3/8 to 1/2 below along with some crows foot. They are all Toyota but 2 of them arrive un-stamped... idk why:

UPDATED:

Disclaimer: I’m into the newer style tools that say "TOYOTA" only on it. Stuff that says Toyota motors is a temp placeholder until I find it then it moves on to my grandpa toyota tools box which is that old kind you find in a 40 series.

Ok so below:
  • Toyota scrapper
  • Toyota Brass Punch (never used, but discolored, will clean it up one of these years)
  • Toyota adjustable wrench in both 200mm and 250mm
  • Some feeler gauge thing 09203-00010
  • the 2 screwdrivers in green are 8mm and 10mm bolt screwdrivers. the 10mm is nice when i had to replace the louvers in the rear of my 80 series.

Wow indeed.👍🎯👍

Yes that's an awesome collection 👍
It's really nice/practical to still be able to order most tools directly from Toyota to compose your toolbox.
Actually for someone starting from scratch there are even 2 partnumber for a full set and a half set with a bunch of sockets / wrenches / screwdriver / pliers included (and the 2 story toolbox for the half set).
full set: 09002-1C102
half set: 09003-1C102

It's really a shame the 2 story Toyota toolbox doesn't have any Toyota marking anywhere because my old box is completely full and I have new Toyota tools on their way, I don't know where to put them...

For the sockets up to now I tried to keep everything on 3/8" to not multiply the accessories, as Toyota does not sell more than 14mm socket in this size, for the bigger sockets in 3/8" I had to buy them from KTC (the ones I le tin the box in the above picture). But recently I had the need for the odd 29mm for the parking brake, being a really unusual size it's only sold in 1/2" by both Toyota and KTC, so now I have to add a few 1/2" accessories and adaptor... (and the big ass 1/2" breaker bar as long as being there)
Anyway, it's cool that Toyota still sell sockets for its odd size nuts of the past.

Now to post something new, a vintage JDM warning reflector from Toyota in a nice vinyl pouch:
1642152291345.png

Base is really heavy, this one is not flying away.
1642152325616.png

(make by Koito)

Comes with instructions in case you don't know how it works x)
1642152364199.png

It fits very nicely behind the jump seats and stays here even if it looks lose (and does not block usage of jump seat).
1642152441865.png

Actually my ex-girlfriend went with the trouble of buying it from Yahoo-JP auctions and import it to France for my birthday a few years ago.

Either of you have the little metal bars that go in the door? If I could get my hands on one, maybe I could replicate them?

Not sure if I ever posted this. The tool roll I bought from another MUD member. It seems complete and the grease gun is still sealed in plastic, I want to take it out, but not sure if keeping it sealed is better.

At some point I want to clean off the rust from the screw drivers.

The other tools I don’t believe are Toyota, but they were in various Toyotas I’ve had. Any insight is greatly appreciated
