i think the 3 wooden handle screw drivers are indeed OEM LIGIT !

@dmamj will know , he is wise
Everything in the tool roll is stamped Toyota - Japan. The pic with all the wrenches in a roll were just found in various Toyotas I’ve owned.

@ToyotaMatt Matt, I've seen pictures of Toyota sewing machines ornately detailed with painted designs and insignias, but none to that extent. Do all the yellow/orange flowers and swirly looking things appear to be hand painted? Not sure what the significance of the chick is. Would make more sense to have a little lamb (ya know, sheep/wool/clothes/sewing :)). The tin plates in early Toyota machines have "TEQ" rather than "OK". It's an odd one!

im the current HIGH bidder ................🤣

@The Jade Bean , first that cabinet from a few posts ago is super cool. You did an awesome job cleaning it up.

Regarding the tool roll, the canvas itself looks to be in fantastic shape, and certainly from a Land Cruiser kit from around the 1970-71 time period. The grease gun is correct for that year roll also - so congratulations there! If the screwdrivers are Toyota, they'll be marked TOYOTA MOTOR either on the ferrule or the shaft. For this year canvas, TOYOTA MOTOR would be on the ferrule. The spark plug wrench looks original also - it would have TOYOTA MOTOR on the body of it. The other tools marked TOYOTA are not original to the kit, but cool none the less!

Thanks for the info. Now that I think about it I think I added the other tools from what I had to complete the set. I’ll snap some closer insignia pics shortly.

Edit: I need to go back and see what tools should be there so I can try to get them so the set is period correct.

the grease gun is still sealed in plastic, I want to take it out, but not sure if keeping it sealed is better.
It will not be the opinion of everyone but mine is that a tool is worth something only if it has a usage, it's not a piece of art to hang to a wall.

Bought this jack in 2020 off eBay I think. Bought the rods from Classic Cruisers in CO and the crank from someone on MUD to complete the set.

@The Jade Bean yes, those are the correct screwdrivers! Nice!!! And the jack is a peach too!

@lp2k Leon, love that tool set. I’m a “Toyota Motor” (the older versions) kind of guy and have made it a mission to find as many different tools stamped with “Toyota Motor” as possible. The tools below are all TM, with the exception of a few “Toyota”. Those are placeholders until I can find the TM types. I believe all of the sizes of the open end, combination, and box wrenches that were available as “standard” tools” are represented.

I too am in the school of thought that tools are meant to be used. It is pretty gratifying to grab a 10mm Toyota Motor socket, put it on a Toyota Motor ratchet handle, and and turn a 10mm Land Cruiser bolt. That being said, a few of the tools you see below are NOS, and couldn’t bring myself to use them when I had another already-greasy one of the same size!

Ditto on using them

I use them gently and only I use them on my 80 series trucks

Polar opposite of tools, and quite possibly the most frilly thing in my collection now, not to mention the frilliest thing in this thread. It's a woven Toyota sewing machine table cover. Had never seen one before. Couldn't resist it when it became available, as I'm very much a fan of early Toyota and it's origins in the sewing industry. The characters to the right of the "TEQ" which just look like thick horizontal lines actually translate to "sewing machine". My guess is that it dates from the 50’s. See, I'm not just about tools. :)

My wife collects and operates Toyota sewing machines. I would love to get something like that as a gift to her for putting up with me for over 30 years. PM me if you would consider assisting me.

@cruiserdan , we had two sewing machines (not Toyota): one quite operable and one terribly broken. Had a garage sale some time ago and put the broken one out for sale. Or at least I thought it was the broken one. Turns out I grabbed the wrong case. Someone got a pretty good deal. Still haven't lived that little goof down. That was about the 15-year mark of our marriage 10 years ago. We celebrated our 25-year last April. If I sell another sewing thing, I might not make it to 26. :)

The cover complements the enameled sign in post #344 of this thread, shown again below.

Had known about the 3 meter roll of the electrical tape (see post #405 of this thread), but only recently came across the 10 meter version. The characters to the right of TEQ translate to “Vinyl Tape”.
Who knows what other lengths are out there.

I was able to procure an authentic tool roll from an original owner of a '68 FJ40. Said its the only thing he kept after selling it. It is quite complete right down to the plastic pouch with the feeler gauge and mini screwdriver. The Owners manual was missing but I had one already. Says he doesn't recall ever using any of the tools. We have become great friends.

More old enameled sewing machine signs. Like the sign in post #494 of this thread, the thick somewhat horizontal characters underneath “TEQ” translate to “sewing machine”. The other Japanese katakana letters you see advertise the department stores the signs were made for/hung in. Both have holes in the top and bottom for mounting.

Here is part 09020-00050 "Offset Wrench Set", as shown in the first photo of page 5 of the 1981 Toyota Tool catalog. The wrenches in this specific set are forged with TOYOTA which leads me to believe it is from the 90s, as wrenches from 1980's sets would have said TOYOTA MOTOR. Not exactly sure what year the transition from TOYOTA MOTOR to TOYOTA occurred. I suspect late 80s at the very earliest, but more than likely sometime in the 90s. It appears Toyota used the same lime-green box for sets in the 80s and 90s. The color matches the larger tool box 09120-00010 and tool cabinet 09001-00020 nicely, as can be seen in the last pic.
