I’ve been scrolling through here seeing some awesome stuff.

I had a bunch of my junk out recently for insurance pictures (we were burgled at out Ohio place) so I took the chance to share some of my garbage. This is just the vintage stuff mostly minus the print stuffs, modern swag, models and duplicates.
Hope you all enjoy, when we get the rest brought out I can share some more random trinkets.

Question for the tool experts here, I’m trying to decide what kind of tool kit to use for the 1960 FJ28 restoration and it affects what we do with the front seat.

If I do a tool ROLL we just put some clips and a band to hold it down. If I do a tool BOX how are these normally secured in the vehicle?

alternatively I could also put in one of the “fixed” under seat tool boxes like the 25s had, but there’s no evidence that that was ever in the truck and I would also have to hinge that front seat to make it work. So I think that’s my least preferred option.

any thoughts or photos on the “separate” tool box location & how it was secured?

Anyone have a late 1959 or 1960 parts catalog, manual, or any literature that would tell what the correct kit, placement, and tie down mechanism would be for Nathan's 28? I would bet it was a roll since it was a South American rig, but how it would be secured is beyond me.

I think John @pardion has an early catalog.

The FJ28 parts manual I got from you shows a roll but that was from 1958, so I’m not sure if it would be the same for 1960. Also not sure how it would be secured since the 28 doesn’t appear to have ever had any kind of under seat storage box that I can tell.

Dan,

"Tin snips." My dad's generation used to say, "Jap cars are made from all our old tin cans," and would certainly not approve of my collection of Japanese "tin" !

Probably not too many body shops using tin snips any more, but it isn't the tool so much as it's the craftsman behind it that creates the magic.

Also, check out the clip from part #09140-00050, a 6-piece spanner set. This set was a "recommended tool", available for purchase directly from Toyota in the early 80s. The lime green clip matches the tool box color that was also available back then.

I'm probably the guy that was bidding against you on these lol. both the weights and the wrenches.. in any regard thats much nicer than my wrench sets by far.

Discovered a couple of new treasures! Didn't know there were different sizes of the TEQ weights! Toyota made a 14 oz and 6 oz in addition to the 10 oz. Only knew of the 10 oz before today. I'm a sucker for these things. Geez, I'm weird.

What would these have been used for?
Calibrating a scale?

@OhioFJ , the weights were used in Toyota knitting machines to weigh down something unknown to me. The type above was the earliest version. A second type had TOYOTA instead of "TEQ".
