Hello, I am in need of technical info, I have a1971 fj40 with an upgraded 4 speed transmisison. Note- I am in Central America and this 4 speed might have been out of a diesel land cruiser. I kit I purchased from Advance Adapters does not fit, and the input shaft out of the transmission is too long for the kit. Does anyone have experience doing this modification using a 4 speed transmission that has different specs than a USA version? The V8 is out of a 1995 Suburban. There are many pieces that do not fit from the kit. TIA!!!!!

You need pic's posted. What is the first gear ratio to help determine diesel vs gas besides the casting numbers. What numbers are on your adapter. So is it a sbc or a big block chevy.

You should read some build threads from start to finish = search for the adapter #.

We need more information please. Which motor out of a 1995 Suburban? What is the AA kit part number? Pictures of everything would be helpful.
Thank you. The chevrolet motor is 5.7 V8. WG157097 motor number. There is a photo of kit purchased

here are more photos, there are several pieces that do not line up or fit. There is no casting or part number on the box of the transmission,
but it is probably from an HJ or diesel land cruiser. I was told by advance adapters(after I sent them this problem) that some 4 speeds are different
from the USA versions and therefore their kit does not all fit. Any thoughts? thank you

It's been a while since I looked a stk H42 input shaft from an US spec gas engine, but that input shaft looks different and fine spline. Most folks mount the bellhousing to the engine then stab the tranny. Be sure to use a pilot bushing. A flex plate isn't going to work.

Thanks so much for your comments. yes bell housing is on motor.

I can take a pic of a US spec 4 speed later today along with some input measurements. if you want?

Why am I seeing a flex plate with a 4sp. install? Where's the pressure plate and clutch disc, etc....?
I am unqualified to answer this stuff, I have a mechanic who is doing this; he is spanish speaker only and not land cruiser expert. He says he can machine the input shaft to fit, etc. But I would prefer to find correct parts. Pressure plate and clutch disc I still need to purchase
I guess flex plate is useless in this , Does anyone know what Pressure plate and clutch etc I need for this ? I am lost. thats why I asked for. help. thank you

You've got the fine spline input shaft from a 'B' diesel.
You'll need to get the input shaft from a H42 transmission that wend behind a gas motor.
You also need a flywheel.

You should be able to get a flywheel, clutch and pressure plate from AdvanceAdapters.

Diesel input shaft is too long just swap out the diesel input shaft from a gas 4 spd. Or get a gas 4 sp. transmission n.

I had the same issue with my Canadian BJ40. Input shaft was fine spline and too long. So I just swapped transmission with another I had on the floor from behind a 2F. You will usually use a Chevy clutch also ,wich does not work with that fine spline diesel input.
