1991 HDJ81 Turbo Diesel located in Saint George, Utah. 390,000 KM. Just drove it to Texas and back (3k mile roadtrip).
I’ve only had this truck since October, have given it some love since I bought it from another mud member. I go through rigs quick, but I’m trying to buy a house and need to get out of this one and get something cheaper.
Truck lived in Japan for 15 years, Canada for another 15 years, then USA for the last couple of years. It’s the perfect trail and overland rig, good MPGs, plenty of power and a real head turner. It’s not pristine like most HDJs for sale, and the price reflects that. It’s perfect for wheeling because you don’t have to dwell on the fact that it’s a showroom truck like those 30k + rigs.
Asking $19,500.

Please, don’t waste my time. If you’re a serious buyer, I expect a phone call to discuss the truck and purchase logistics. This is the cheapest JDM Turbo Diesel in the USA (that I’m aware of) with a detailed history and preventative maintenance.

Gets about 18.5 mpg, cruises at 80 easily.

Cons:
- Paint is good overall, has some body rust above windshield, frame is clean.

- One of the previous owners converted the starter to 12v from the original 24v. They didn’t complete the task thoroughly as something needs to be tapped to get constant power so that the car thinks it’s getting charged. They got it to work and stopped there, so there are some lights on the dash as a result. Has no adverse effect on the truck whatsoever other than some lights. Starts, runs, charges all beautifully. Someone just needs to sort out how to finish that job.
