Howdy! Local cops don't like the way my tubing on the back blocks their perfect view of my plate. It is in the stock position on the bed. Need a source for a weld on plate holder with a light. My OEM lights are burned out/rusted sockets. They even want be to hang a set of mud flaps on it also. After nearly 10 years on the streets, they suddenly decided to stop me twice in two months for a "warning". Suppose I better heed or I may not be so lucky next time. John

The light is easy. Just go to NAPA or any auto parts store. They sell screw on fixtures just for license plates. The mount should also be a no-brainer since you are willing to weld. You just need a piece of angle or flat stock drilled for the top two holes on the license plate. I had a light once that used the top two screws of the plate to attach. The rest I've seen require their own mount above the plate. I guess you could also light from the side too.

Ya we kinda need some pics of your current arrangement & bumper.

Can you "french" the license plate into the tailgate? This is common for hot rodders and ricers, you can get kits from several places that include lights.

You can also check out trailor suppliers and/or truck stops to source out your plate hanger. Get to looking a little harder and score one with LED lights. Boating supplies may be a good one. I had a LED license plate light I got from West Marine on my 40. You can see that thing for miles. Let us know what you come up with.
