Part 90189-05013 shows as available. However, based on the file photo on cruiserparts.net, it does appear to be square.Part is NLA though isn't it?
As you might have noticed, I'm working on my thermostat housing and snapped the bolt![]()
Are the heads sized to JIS wrench sizes ?
Sarge
Bummer!
I have a four-bolt thermostat housing from a 60-series that I'm going to replace mine with, next time I have to work on it for any reason.
I don't think I have that option, because the upper housing for a '79-'80 is unique to those years and slopes upward.
I've been looking into it, but I doubt it'll happen in the near future. I consulted a PhD scientist who worked on PVC products for BF Goodrich. He walked me through how such a floor mat can be made. It requires a large mold and the whole thing has to jell into shape at once. You can't simply take an existing sheet of rubber and stamp it, because the grids on top will be very shallow.
I also had an IM exchange with Gabe on this board, who works for Toyota. My understanding from him is that these mats were made by a department within Toyota, rather than by an external supplier. His sources said that the mold may have been scrapped already.
The other challenge is from the business end. Most floor mat manufacturers don't want to do this project. There is too much work and not much return for them. It's way more profitable to make smaller, universal floor mats that you see in auto stores.
Despite the above, the fat lady hasn't sung yet. I'm discussing a couple of approaches with my manufacturing partner. At this point I just can't tell how things are going to turn out.
Hmmm... I'll have to compare the two closely - I may have the same problem, since mine is a 1980 (12/79 build date).
On mine the drivers handle is a small chrom handle and the passenger side has this type. All in factory mounting points.Any idea if these inner door pulls are available anywhere? This picture is of my 74 fj40 handle... Can't find at any of the obviousView attachment 1204704 larger vendors ($OR, CCOT or Cruiser Corps)
Actually, they aren't. So that must be it. They are the old style doors but the original to vehicle door has chrome and replacement has the strap type pictured. A PO replaced one at some point when the passenger side took a beating. Never even thought about that being the reason they were different. Duh!My '73 has the same OEM chrome handles you speak of. The picture I posted is of my '74... I'm beginning to think '74 is the only year that had this style. Anyone know for sure?
Martyn, you have 2 different kinds of OEM door pulls in the same Cruiser...? Are BOTH doors original to that rig?
