Thanks all.

I used a plastic book stand from IKEA that I had laying around to make a platform for the enclosure. Not sure how it will stand up over time but it would be pretty easy to replace if I have issues. The top of the box is just about level with the top of the battery. I can take a pic if you want. I relocated the coil/igniter to the firewall to make more room.

book stand? Or the laptop shelf the link goes to?

Laptop shelf/stand thingy in the link....

Got one from IKEA. Looks good
I assume that you cut down the laptop shelf and then narrowed it, because it is bigger than the box.

What type of fasteners did you use? Yeah, a picture would be of benefit for the thread.

thx

I don't really remember what I did with the shelf thingy... it was a spur of the moment "hey, I think THIS will work" kind of thing. Can't take pics of it because of all the stuff in the way... I probably should mention that I have a 2" body lift... that would raise the fender up relative to the engine components...
Really making a shelf for the box is a matter of fabbing up what you can make work for you...
I just drilled holes in the inner fender and used small stainless screws w/washers and nuts.

that is a good idea.... I had my friend make me a kind of cover for some of my wiring around my ECM so the mud does not cover it up. Good idea on the electrical box...I still need to clean up some of my "custom" stuff.

that's okay, because I went ahead and trimmed the 'shelf' reused 3 holes in the fender, drilled corresponding ones in shelf, enclosure and the cutting board and used stainless steel 1/4" bolts, washers and lock nut - LOL - just as you did. For the most part it is level, with a bit of droop toward the engine. misses my alternator - did thought about the heat from my ram horn exhaust manifold - might put a heat shield on the box.
Will install more tomorrow, after post 484 in my thread https://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/do...orque-is-too-much.541922/page-25#post-9432085

thanks for the help and the idea. I think it is a great solution to my old mess as well

PS I too have a 2" body lift - lol

Glad to see that this is of help to others....

Thanks so much for starting this thread and sharing your wiring project!

Man oh Man did it!
This thread gave me the inspiration to take care of my engine compartment wiring bird's nest too (the result of 25 years of quick weekend wiring fixes). Without this thread and the ideas that it inspired, I am not sure what course of action I would have taken.

I downsized and decided to wire just the fuse box inside a moisture proof box. No relays or fusible links. I wanted the outer protective enclosure to be as small as possible to just fit the 12 circuit Blue Sea ST Fuse Box and the wires.

After a lot of searching, I decided on using a Pelican 1150 waterproof case instead of a NEMA enclosure. It is just big enough to fit the Blue Sea ST Fuse Box and incoming wires.

Anyway, here is my end result.. Thanks to you!

Nice cleanup! It's a shame my second fuse block is already cleanly mounted in-cab or I'd be doing this.

Yes you did! It looks great... and a fancy Pelican case too!
