That's where AXT put's it and that's where mine is. So far no problems with the altenator/vacuum pump or turbo. My oil pressure line is much smaller in diameter than the discharge line on the turbo.

a rule of thumb is all scavage return lines should be a minimum of 2 times the pressure feed line with ideal being 4 times the size ( overkill imop ).

This picture shows how I did all of my intake tubing. I have a total of about $30.00 in my intake system. Between the Turbo and the intake is a 2" exhaust pipe expaneded at the intake end to 2.5" and has a 45 degree bend in the middle The filter to Turbo consists of 2.25" pipe expanded at the intake side to 2.5" and compressed at the Turbo side to 2". I believe this is a good system however offroad I think the air filter may not work so well in wet conditions. Thanks for the heads up wayne about the drain I looked at your idea of tapping into the valve cover but on this application that just wont work. I also agree that the Turbo is small but it I believe that like fjbj40 says if you are running high boost numbers you may have a problem with over spinning the Turbo. I didnt tap into the stock exhaust I just havnt had the urge to cut the old exhaust system out. I ran 2.25" exhaust with no muffler outside of the fram rails and it exits just in front of the passenger tire, this allowed me to go with a cheap exahust and it is still higher than the frame rails.

can you not bring the air from the original air box?

when i mentioned a drain above the oil line i was meaning into the oil pan itself, although i have run one into the tappet cover.

as for the AXT kit being returned into the same fitting as the vacumn return, i do not agree with it. it makes it easy but i think it is restrictive...
if it works and you do not need to drop that messy oil pan, then great but i think it was so they could sell a kit that was a bolt on...
just my opinion so please ignore.

I think I tried every combitntion to use the stock air box but the metal tube coming off of it was just too long if i ran it forward and put a 180 in it it would work but then the hood wouldnt close so i kinda had to do this. I think I am going to take you advice though Wayne and run the drain line to the drain pan cause I was kind of worried about this set up when I did it.

Todd, Any chance of a repo on the Turbo to intake piece to make it easy for me?

Let me know if you guys look into draining to the pan. It'd be easy enough to dump it there but like wayne said I'd have to pull the pan.

I need to devise a way to run from the stock air box but that shouldn't be that hard.

how about a snorkle with a proper filter at the top? you could do it with 3" exhaust and make an adapter to the top. run the pipe along the fender to the front of the skirt and enter there in front of the drivers battery and over to the inlet of the turbo. if you get a bit creative with the air box then it could give the truck the true outback Aussi or African look...

The snorkle idea has come to me, this is kinda just temporary till I maybe see somthing I like. As for the intake tube wesintl, I am not sure what you would like me to do for ya I can get some more exact meausrements and email them to you. Ill try to do that I wont be able to for a while since my cruiser isnt here right now.

There's a 60 with a Donaldson can up on the roof running around the Lower Mainland. SOA, tons of mods, looks great, and a very funtional rig. I don't have any pics, sorry.

I"ll take some measurements and try and find another turbo shop that can make me the fittings from the turbo to the intake and the airbox to the turbo. I figured if you had a place make one they could probably repro it real easy.

The best place to make your intake tubing is a muffler shop those specialty shops tend to charge a lot of extra money. my .02

I drain mine in the oil pan, it wasn't that hard. taking the oil pan off is pretty easy.
I agree that is a clean setup. Congrats.
What u guys think about a hood scoop or something to slam as much air into the turbo as possible? I guess a snorkle would work too, but i d'ont know about cutting a hole in the hood.

if you slam air into the intake then you could also slam water in as well... air good, SMALL amounts of water ie rain good
large amounts $$$$

I agree with wayne lots of water. not good. However I was thinking of putting a scoop on mine and then putting an intercooler on top of the engine this would allow a intercooler that doesnt block air flow to my rad, which is already jepordized by my winch and lights and things.

the closer the intake for the scoop is to the front of the hood the better the air flow... i can not see why that idea wouldn't work...

By slam I wasn't suggesting I wanted water, just air, but I know what you are saying. I might give the scoop a shot, what would be the best way to limit rain water from entering?

When you guys T off the alt vac. Diesel dude made his own banjo bolt for it but both oil lines still compete with the size of the banjo bolt hole into the block. I'm thinking of just T into the soft line since the oil still has to compete either there or at banjo. Trying to find a banjo like that is difficult and I'd probably have to pay someone to make a bolt like that.

Yes the bolt I made has a slightly larger boar than stock and it is a bit longer however the bolt size is the same, I guess having access to a machine shop really does pay off.
