Ah, and after all that, of course it didn't line up. Nothing comes easy, does it? So, I just need to find some 2 3/4 ID flex tube/duct and mate the two up - then I'll be in business.

I will say this is one area that the TG kit made me want to pull my hair out. I modified the air cleaner lid as pictured (correct length), and yet the supplied rubber hose is too short and it's a really tight, funky angle too.

TG, if you are reading this: just include a long uncut piece of tubing and let the end user cut it to size - otherwise the margin for error is too small. So, now I hunt for 2 3/4 flexible tubing...

Are you sure you've got the Cobra fitting on the right way? I think you want to put the open end in this picture on your air cleaner--it sure looks like it would about fit with just a 90 degree elbow then.

I don't know what the Turboglide instructions or other parts look like, but I'd try that. You can also buy heavy rubber pieces to do the same stuff (which will have a little, itty bitty bit of wiggle to them) at a filter supply house.

I think you're right. I will flip it and see how it lines up. Thanks for your sharp eye, Dan

Dan is correct, the fitting is the wrong way, fits perfectly on mine.

 Thanks for slapping the back of my head. I should be good to go tonight. I can almost hear the turbo whine...

Well, when you've made that mistake yourself......

OK, so finally got it all together. Here is the final product. This was the night before I got the exhaust system on it.

When I first drove it, I was thrilled that nothing really bad happened. I haven't yet adjusted the fuel supply, but even running it as-is, you can feel the difference.

Best upgrade so far, no doubt. Sorry I waited 2yrs to do it, really makes truck more fun and enjoyable to drive. Even without any exhaust (just the header), the sound wasn't as bad as I thought it might be. On the freeway, the fumes were strong - good thing I run B100.

Now onto the exhaust. Dropped it off at 8am, had it by 1pm and it was $216 out the door - nice! I went with 2.5 inch, flexpipe and no muffler. It's not obnoxiously loud. He went inside the frame, and as you can see - one part dips down a little, but with the cover back on - it's not a huge problem. Plus, I don't need/want a "crawler" type rig. Quality looks great and I'm pleased with the result.

After I got the exhaust, I stopped by Whitey45's shop and he took it out for a spin. He approved.

Now, I promised some video: here is our very own Amaurer taking it out for a spin. I can say that, without any question, he now wants a turbo. Two thumbs up. It's all about driving fast tractors!

Tomorrow I will fool with the fuel supply and find the "happy place" that doesn't spike the EGTs. My EGTs have been around 500 at freeway speeds.

Again, thanks for all the input and help. MUD rocks.

WOW, what a beautiful creature in your truck!!

Oh and the turbo is nice too. :D

Definitely going to have to piece a turbo kit together for myself, but I'm a cheapskate so it'll probably take a year to collect parts one by one. sigh. I'll just ignore that fact that my engine already drinks 1qt/1000mi and just hug the rebuild kit in my closet every night for good luck....

Dude, you cracked my rear view mirror :flipoff2:

Suck it up, pony up the money and be turbo'd in a week. Think of it this way: the sooner you turbo, the sooner you'll destroy your engine = the sooner you get a freshly rebuilt 3B. Where's the downside? :D

If you didn't increase the fuel yet, you only have seen 10% of the fun!

Turned out the fuel 1/2 turn, cruising at 100km/h-ish, I'm between 530-560 on EGTs. Does this sound about right for flat-freeway travel @ about 2600-2800 RPM? I suppose I could turn it up more, but I'm happy with what I've got going right now.

Truly like driving a different vehicle, never realized how much/often I downshifted to get over hills....not anymore.

Clockwise or counter?

If i recall the probe is before the turbo into the manifold, that sound low to me. Cruising in town between 0 and 70 kmh, i'm always under 650deg F..

Ah, but you are probably in Celcius, 550 deg C is 1022deg F. i would say give it a other half a turn (your consumption number will change tho) and watch the EGT for a couple of weeks. I would say you can go up to 650 without worry.

BTW 2600-2800rpm at 100kmh is kinda high? you running 4.11 gears with what size tires?

i'm at 2700rpm running 110kmh, wih 4.56 and 34" tires.

Counter.

No, I believe that is F temp, not C. I'm running smaller tires than I should be, plus an H41 = higher RPMs.

If this is F then something is wrong, maybe the probe is not deep enough. Running 100kmh i'm around 700deg F but AFTER the turbo and i have a intercooler!

Something with your pyro is definitely not right.

Post turbo I'm looking for 400 degrees F to shut the engine off. On the highway I generally cruise around 800 degrees F. You should be a good 100-200 degrees hotter than my post turbo setup. Shoot: idling you should be at 500 or so after a bit of a hill, let alone while going up that hill.

Not downshifting was never so much fun, was it? Turbo is to Diesel as Key is to Lock.
