thanks for the compliment, it has been a treat to build this unit ... and ... a true challenge.
there are speakers facing down and ones facing back, since he is doing the trip mostly by himself he can fine tune the fader and the balance to what he likes.
he also has the option to add an additional speakers in the door and in the rear upper console to give the full bodied sound.
we did try the system installed, but sitting still in the shop, and the sound was real nice.
once the speakers and deck is installed in the BJ70 refurbishing build ( https://forum.ih8mud.com/70-series-tech/556189-1985-bj70-cnd-refubishing-modifications.html ) then i will transfer it to my removable hard top 70 to test it on the highway and will report back.
cheers
Greetings! I have researched the aftermarket Cruise Control space exhaustively. There is no 24V aftermarket Cruise.
I purchased, although have not yet installed, the Rostra brand Cruise Control. In addition to the base kit, I had to also get the Clutch pedal cut-off, as well as the VSS signal generator. It does not use vacuum... it's full electric powered, which I think is nicer than vacuum.
Install will be a bee-awtch... All of my signals need to be converted from 24V to 12V... i.e. the brake pedal, tachometer, and main power wires. The VSS generator does not 'bolt up' to the Toyota parts, but I've figured out a strategy to adapt them, although it will require the sacrifice of a speedo gear and speedo cable.
crushers said:i didn't get near the work done i wanted to.
we needed to reorganize the fab area to get the press out of the main shop which lead of course to much more work than originally anticipated.
the paint touch up guys showed up Wed evening and it still needs to be delived to the paint shop once all together to get the final "blow in" paint touch ups completed.
so the side panels get weather stripping before being mounted.
the inside is also held with 3/8" aluminum retainers, it would be interesting to see someone try and break into the back through them!!
it is really starting to look like a Paddy Wagon or an ambulance for Ireland.![]()
