ONSC will have a Hurricane Creek run in June as well. I'll make sure it doesn't overlap this one.

Awesome trip, highly recommended :)

RSVPing for Erik and G-man. We have a green light and will be rolling Hwy 176 north, at least to Cola, then looking for other 55MPH roads if possible. If not, we'll just cruise in the right lane and let people pass us.

Let's do this !

We returned yesterday afternoon from a trip to Hurricane Creek. We ended up with four in our group and had a great time. 8 people total. The first time that Heather and I went to Hurricane Creek the group was larger and we set up camp at Round Mountain (Close to Max Patch) the first night and then struck out from there and returned that evening.

This past weekend we chose to keep moving and broke camp Sat morning and camped at a different spot Sat night. We preferred this over covering similar ground the second day. We ran into a lot of closed gates this weekend that are normally open. This is due to the recent forest fires.

@Izzyandsue was our leader/navigator for the weekend. Izzy is a pretty hard core "explorer" of all the State and Fed roads and spider trails that NC,SC,TN and GA have to offer and has some pretty good mapping off most of these trails. You may wish to contact him and see if he can give you some electronic mapping.

I'm stoked for this trip. Should be a fun time. I'm prepped for full Hammock camping for that trip!

I think I mentioned this at GSMTR, but unfortunately, I'm out for this trip... We have some house related activities that have to be completed that weekend with contractors coming the following week. Also, I'm switching back to the night shift for the month of June, so the timing is bad.

Ok , plan on coming up after work Friday .Are we having group meals if so what do I need to bring?

Do we need firewood? I may be able to haul some. I also have a propane coleman stove but not a good cook!! LOL! Just let me know what to bring. Is there enough clearance on the trail for me to carry a hitch basket on my stock Tacoma to carry stuff if I run out of room in the little bed or should I leave it at home? I'm planning to put the tonneau cover back on the bed to cover all my stuff in case we have rain.

I'm not a member of LCLC, UC or ONSC but I'd love to join. I was at GSMTR and met some of you guys there. I'm in Nashville and my fiancé and I would be coming, if possible.

I know this is probably members only, so if I'm on a wait list that's fine.

Hey Cole! I am the LCLC Event Coordinator, so my decisions are easily veto'd by our president - @dbenke . There is not a waiting list for this one, so if you want to go, you're in. Preference is given to club members, but if the trip isn't full, than it is open to non-club members. This practice is also consistent with our HAMOM's should you choose to come down and join us for some wrenching. I just ask that you please support one of the Carolina clubs - either us, UC, or ONSC. I believe UC is only $10/yr to join and they are the closest club to you. @Teddy can confirm this. This is done to keep our wheeling trip practices consistent with UC and ONSC (many of us are members of those clubs as well). Love to have you, sir! I didn't get to wheel with you, but I heard great things about that LR4, is that the truck that will make the trip? FWIW, I don't think you'll have any issues with pinstriping on this trip...

Hey thanks for the info Jeremy! I definitely don't mind supporting one of the groups at all, seeing as I'm not a far drive from you guys anyways.

I would be taking the LR4 again (if it's allowed haha). I had to make a last minute call not to bring my 62 to GSMTR due to the failing auto trans and brought the Rover instead (luckily I didnt break anything on it or smash any panels or rockers haha). I've decided to park the 62 for the time being for a H42 4 speed swap in place of the auto.

Look forward to meeting you as well, I'm sure we passed by each other at some point at GSMTR.

UC Membership is $15/year. $30 for family.
Thanks for the heads up Teddy. If this trip ends up working out for my fiance and I, I will send it over.

Trip update - I will be trailering to Asheville on Thursday, dropping my wife and daughter and then meeting up FROM Asheville. Return trip will be the same. The girls are going to stay in Asheville for the weekend while we meander to the west.

I will also be bringing Shelby !

Are we still going? It looks like I may not be able to get out of Conway until 12 or 1 so I'm gonna try to find my way to the campsite and meet everyone Fri. afternoon. I just hate the idea of wandering around the mountains by myself. I like the buddy system! Any detailed directions would be nice to get to the campsite. I have the NC Gazetteer and I'm thinking about downloading the GAIA app on my phone if y'all think it would be worth it. I'm guessing there won't be much cell service out there... Who all is still going? The email thread has been kinda quiet!

IDK - I drove home today and had less power then normal.... Checking to see if I have a leaking exhaust manifold, or something else. With all the rain, possible, I was kinda unsure if it was going to be a go myself.

If I have an exhaust leak, then I will be out. I will assess it tomorrow better, when I have help.

It's a bummer, because I am half packed up, too.
