Hi Guys, I am new to this forum, and just bought my first Cruiser in December. I am loving it! I do have some work to do on it. I have the cracked manifold ticking, and I think my alternator needs replacing. (The voltage regulator failed on a recent test, the Diodes passed. I also hear a "supercharger" whine occasionally that I have read about on here ) I am also wanting to replace the shocks and bushings that are causing some squeaking when going over speed bumps.

I am looking for a mechanic who uses high quality parts, and is trustworthy. I live in Greensboro. This truck is my DD carrying my samples to clients. It works great, and is amazingly comfortable for a road warrior like me.

Let me know if you have any recommendations for a mechanic/shop. I would love to do the work myself, but I am in an apartment and time not something I have a lot of.

Cheers!
-Ben

Welcome Ben!! I'm not aware of any Greensboro area mechanics, but we have people up there that probably are:

@jfz80 @fj40z @Rice @jamesurq @erymer @96Cruiser and others!!

There are only a couple shops in GSO that I use. Engelbert's auto on 66 in Kernersville, Stoltz Auto in Walkertown and Continental motors in GSO. With that said you have a great resource of cruiser people in this area and if you have the parts on hand, we can help out with the work. Please check the thread about our next meet up on the 7th and maybe we can see how much of these things we can pitch in on.

Triad Monthly meet. Feb 7th @ BJ's Brewhouse

Is Stoltz the guy that is the toy/lex certified tech that started his own shop? If so, one of my coworkers loves that guy. Started his shop because he was sick of seeing people getting rear ended at the stealership.

I don't think so. I work with one of the Stoltz boys. They race at Bowman gray. Derek is kinda famous or infamous up there. But the do good honest work.

That crowd was a hoot to watch, true grass roots racing.

haha, wish I could help but im up in WV

I use "Hodge Garage" on Battleground Avenue. Tell Wayne (the owner) James sent you. He's super fair on pricing, does good work - and will do it quickly.

I have started using Websters Imports on Grumman Rd near the airport. I bought Roger's 2013 LC when he bought a new 2016. I liked the fact they a mechanic had owned it and liked it enough to get another. I have taken some of the other LC's that I have to him since and so far so good. They are quick and easy to work with.

I have not utilized hired help too much lately but have used websters above for over a decade now and recommended to friends and family. I like Roger and his crew and is one of few places ive found that i could say I trust.

Hey guys, thank you for all of your replies! I will definitely look into the recommended mechanics above. I think Websters that @NC 100 uses sounds like where I need to call. I think I am going to put BJ's on my calendar. Do I need to RSVP? Also, if someone has the space and some tools I would be interested in doing the work that way. I am in an apartment with basic tools.

Take it to Free Rice Automotive. They just finished up a motor rebuild and swap. :)
Also @caintrain if high quality parts are in order you really need to get to know @beno

And welcome btw. Lol

Thanks @erymyer ! I will look into his website. I know that by using parts from higher quality manufacturers these vehicles will last longer. I know too many shops selling cheap chinese parts. These recommendations are a great place to start though!

Just shoot @beno a pm with what you need, year and model, and he will get you hooked up with oem parts.

He's a great resource on the east coast
