I recently rewired a lot of my trail pig. I moved a lot of the electrical to an easily accessible spot as I had done a lot of fixes trying to probe stuff under the dash. I put mine on the side of a center console.

I'm going to shoot for the drivers footwell and run all the harness out of the clutch MC hole. I was thinking about a big firewall bulkhead plug too, like an MV

Get those emblems off fenders

Grabbed the one "land cruiser" fender emblem that wasn't broken. I left the TOYOTA ones, already have those. Theyre kinda ugly anyway.

I did manage to wrap and install both shorty headers onto my 350, installed the distributor (we'll see how good i did that when it comes time to fire it up lol), plugs and wires installed.

Tore apart my spare rear end, keeping the shafts and diff parts for spares and going to turn the housing into a FF some day. Started to lengthen the front driveshaft. After that's done and installed I can do the exhaust.

Probably 3/4ths the way thru installing this harness kit from Speedway Motors:
Speedway Universal 22 Circuit Wiring Harness

Probably should have gone with the 12 circuit version instead, but I thought the GM style fuse block looked better. I most likely won't be using things like the power window circuit, or several of the others :)

Also paired it with the universal style turn signal switch. a little too chrome for my taste, but it's cheap and they work well.
Heavy Duty Turn Signal Switch

Trying to decide what to do for turn signals on the front since I sold my 69 grille to Delancy. I really want 67-68 apron mounted signals, but those are a little unobtanium ($$$). Was thinking some Amazon motorcycle signals for now until I can find/afford a pair of 68's.

Made an adapter fitting for the BMW fan switch. Used a 1/2 to 1/8 brass pipe bushing, drilled out to 1/2" and threaded M14 x1.5.

Also immediately returned the motorcycle turn signals after opening the box up. Too dumb looking. lol

I'm starting to realize that I would have been wheeling already had I just left the F there and swapped in the SM420 and 34x9.50's I had. Meh.

So I see you are gonna build a liftgate (from your back glass for sale ad)

got that mocked up yet? And we'll need lots of pics.

Not quite, I cut away the original weatherstrip channel long ago and was planning on framing in the opening with steel strap, then building a window frame to fit with a large piano hinge. Then adding a premade window element for an RV or something.

My original version in 2013 was made of stainless and the fit/finish was pretty poor:

The PO did a less striking version of this to my pig. The gate is gutted and I never even thought about the storage aspect. I may have to sit in the back with a six pack and ingineer sumtin.

I didn't even consider the storage idea from the FJ60 and 80 crowd. Might have to clean the rust out of the tailgate now.

Picked up a new part that'll set me back while I figure out how to work it in....

An elocker from a Tacoma 8" rear.

Unfortunately it has a trashed 5.29 ring and pinion, a broken side gear (I have an extra) and a PO-fabbed manual shift mechanism.

Rebuilding it with a 4.11 gearset will be fairly easy (I've built many 8" thirds). I just have to source a mini truck axle housing and inner shafts, swap my disc brakes and birfs over, and modify the suspension to take the wider axle. Mini truck leaf springs are spaced 1.5" wider than FJ40/55's. I already have Mini truck rear springs in the front. I'll have to offset the shackles and use a Trail Gear/Sky/etc. spring crossmember.
