holy back from the dead thread!!

So-

Those of you with the TG sliders- how have they held up over the past 3-4 years??

They are still about the same price right now, I was just looking at them the other day... apparently MC is not making them right now, but TG is and there was a bit of row over the material each used. yada yada.

just wanted to get some opinions from folks who have had the TG ones. i wont be going up aginst rocks so much as fallen trees, stumps and cypress knees...

thanks

Mine have held up great but I did bend one of them at Rubicon this summer, but I don't blame the slider I blame the driver. But fortunately I have another one because I split a set to make my quarter guards so I will just weld this one on.

As for material both sets of my TG sliders are DOM, some of there other sets are HREW but the 67" ones that fit are wagons are DOM.

They will work great against the trees you are going to drag your rig around.

My only advice would be to bolt them on, makes it easier to fix them if need be and no risk from welding on the frame. And they are plenty strong mounted this way. I have lifted my rig several times with them. Tons of gouge marks on the tubes as well that are ample evidence they have kept the body off the rocks.

And if you are going to really use them just spray can the paint, powder coat wont stand up to the rocks anyway. Easy to touch up with a spray can

I'm looking forward to using mine in January at Jamboree. I painted mine with Rustoleum oil based paint and primer. That's right, brush on paint :D

I went with a pretty low angle, the outriggers are pretty much parallel to the ground. I wanted maximum tree protection.

There are pictures in my ROTM thread, I will post them in this thread when I'm on my computer later tonight.

:cheers:Happy new year everybody!!

sorry to hijack your thread dyno!!

i'm not sure if you've done it already but could you post a pic of your 350 tpi setup on the 60... cause that's the engine i want on my 62:bounce:

i'm in the mood for some cruiser porn:grinpimp:

I have had my TG sliders on my Fiona for a couple of years now and have beat on em pretty hard and slammed them with the full weight of the truck and tho my teeth and head hurt the sliders were still fine. few small scratches from granite rocks but no dents or de formation.

thanks guys.

this is exactly the kinnd of feedback i was lookin for.

gotta luv mud...

Has anyone gone the bolt on route? i assume it requires some custom fab. any suggestions?

thanks again

These 67" sliders are a perfect length if you take off the mud flaps, as you can see I kept mine. They stick into the rear wheel wells a little bit, but under articulation the rear tires swing backwards so no worries there. (Of course I don't have a picture to illustrate this haha)

Plus I didn't want to part with the mudflaps :)

Really like the sliders, just need to use them!

I was thinking about going the bolt on route, but I didn't have the fab skills or the time to do it. I don't see my light duty Landcruiser bending these anyway, and thats the only reason to unbolt them, to straighten them out.

Hope that helps!

Who makes rear quarter panel sliders for 86 FJ60 that are bolt on and generally avaliable?

Who makes rear quarter panel sliders for 86 FJ60 that are bolt on and generally avaliable?

nobody that doesnt make them one at a time / one off.

well yeah I know you can't walk in and pick up a set... but outside of that... looking for a good set of 1/4 panel slider for my FJ60, bolt on type.

Yeah i know they don't match......kinda ran out of black halfway through the first slider.

So if you actually get close to em, you'll see that the passenger side one is half flat black, half satin black. and the right side is really runny red (yep alliteration right thar!)

Oh well, keeps the rust off and doesn't really bug me.

Which is what I was trying to explain...

unless they are custom made per your request they are not available.

But im pretty sure if you tell someone what you want and give them money someone can get them made for you.

If you are looking for Quarter Guards this is what I did. Just bought a second set of sliders, cut em in half, made the mounts and they are good to go. Still have the second one to replace the one I bent at Rubicon.

I noticed some one asked about bolt on mounting, it's pretty simple just use two pieces of flat plate that sandwich the frame with four bolts. 2 above and 2 below. I used three on each side, slider is welded to outside plate. I will try and dig up a picture. Bolt ons are plenty strong, bent one of my sliders at Rubicon without bending the mount plate.

Found the picture of my bolt on mounts so its here now.

Nice...have been thinking about getting sliders for my BJ62..was only cautious due to welding bit... but this pic cleared all my queries... so 'bolt on' is what I shall go far..
