Here are pictures of the cross member bolted up to the trans and the broken slave cylinder?

Glad to hear that you got it mounted up! Bummer that the slave cylinder is broken, but at least you're making progress :D

Yes Sir, a little at a time. Can't wait till the day it starts looking like a Cruiser again. Body and frame mated back together, engine and trans in, SOA conversion done, and rolling under its own power. Some progress is better than no progress at all. Thanks again Johnny

Had a problem with one of the mount bolts on the IP. It stripped out when I was trying to get it back in. Had to tap it to M10x1.50. Wasn't too bad, got that all taken care of and did a little more work on a few small things. Got the frame on some jack stands and leveled out. Then the old half body went back on. Hopefully this week I'll have the engine and trans mocked into place. Then it all comes back apart and the frame will get a few coats of rust bullet and some single stage black. More to come.

Body Work

Finally decided to take off a week and get some work done on the cruiser. Started some body work, decided to take the cowl off of the red body and replace it with the brown one. This is due to a lot of rust in the a-pillar on the red one. The cowling came off pretty good and hopefully the other one will go back on just as easy.

That is neat man.

Get in there and clean the heck out of that cowl area and paint it with something that will never corrode. Also, someone in the $50 mod thread found an air cleaner cover to go over that HVAC intake to prevent crap from getting in, like pine straw and whatnot.

Hey thanks Johnny, I will definitely check that out. I plan on sanding every thing down and using a good primer and then I think some spray on undercoating. Going to try and get the motor and trans mocked up this week also.

More Rust Repair

I knew when I took the cowling off that there would be more rust. The drivers side a-pillar was really bad. Well I got on that area today and got it cut out and then got the patch panel cut and mocked up ready to weld. More Pictures.

Great work!

As a suggestion I would use a good paint in there and not undercoating. It cracks as it gets older and allows water to get under it.

Hey thanks Jeremy. I will definitely be using paint then. Maybe a good single stage paint and sealer. How is your build coming??

No problem! I think a good paint like a POR15 or the like would be a good idea. Trick with those is good surface prep.

My build is moving right along. Should be test firing the engine this weekend I hope. Adapter is getting CNCed next week so should be actually starting the swap first weekend or so of October.

Awesome Jeremy. I will head over to your thread and check your updates. Post up that thing running when it comes to that point.

Diesel Update

Got the motor off of the stand and got the adapter kit bolted up. Ran into a few problems along the way. Had no idea on how to get the original snout off the back of the engine. With a good idea from Mitch (Dazed) got that sucker off of there.

Just welded a 3/4 inch nut to the front of the snout and ran a bolt down in it and it pushed it right out. Then got the trans and t-case bolted up and fitted in between the frame rails. Ran into another problem there. The turbo is hitting the brake booster right now and I will need to space out the power steering pump for clearance.

Hey, in that last picture, I think you have the motor a bit low. If you raise it up about a foot, things might work better for ya :D

He trying to lower the CG for better handling! ;)

Now that's funny!!! Didn't have the frame end mounts cut yet and if I leave the hoist up, it leaks down over the night. Didn't want to wake up to the oil pick up damaged. Plus I wanted to see what it would look like with a frame and body lift:grinpimp:

There is nothing wrong with having an engine that is too low in the frame....matter of fact, it's the new trend.

Blue, I am glad thst you are following my lead with this one.....you are right!?

Hey Johnny, how close are you to Barnardsville, NC??? There is a guy there parting out a 60 and may need a few things. Saw it and some other ones on Craigslist there in NC..

That's cool, was just wondering. There is a guy there on Craigslist parting out a 60 and was needing a part. No Worries. Just needing a good dash surround that goes around the a/c & heater controls.
