The greed in the cruiser world these days is nauseating.

Could not agree more.

Wish my next daily would be another cruiser...sadly I think I'm priced out of the market.

What really gets me is all the guys that imported JDM HJ61's and HZJ77's about 15 years ago for around ~$20k with the typical '100,000km' (likely rolled back) and are now selling for $30k with 300,000km indicated. Must be nice. Or maybe I'm just jealous. :bang:

Yeah it sucks a lot of the fun out of it.

When I bought my 61 it was cheap enough that the plan had always been to put the drivetrain into something else I liked better than a 60 series.

But now, even in it's current state I'd be throwing away too much money. Even though the drivetrain is probably 85% of it's value.

It's sorta why I'd been half hoping for a tree to make the decision for me...didn't happen.

I still wouldn't mind swapping the drivetrain into something else, if something popped up.

Like a 70 with no engine or something. Unlikely these days tho.

I'd like to be LHD again. That drivetrain in a 70 series would be kinda fun...

Hell I'd probably trade it for a BJ70 if one was in the same ballpark pricewise and wasn't about to break in half.

Yeah, you did well on your 61 for sure. There was a reasonable blip in the market for a little while there before the 'mericans started importing and driving prices up.

Anyhow, yeah, being creative with engine swaps etc. is probably the best way forward for many of us. Wish I had more time on my hands these days; would be looking at putting a 1HDFTE into a LJ78 or something along those lines. Instead I find myself looking at MB products with the OM642 CDI (GL320 for example). Yeah they have their issues (oil leaks and emissions), but they're LHD, the fuel economy is excellent, they pull like a train and they're damn comfy. Won't be wheeling; but honestly I don't get out much anymore anyhow.

I think there are more diesel cruisers in TEXAS than there are in canada these days. Maybe If a few of the members on here didn't capitalize on the things we love so much, we'd maybe have a few more to elongate our passions and interests. Hey Rob, you find a good crank for your 3b yet? It is a bit more difficult these days eh? I have 6 of them if you'd like to get one magna fluxed. how bout $500.00

Sun was shining underneath the hood perfectly when I was finishing putting the last of the piping in today.:smokin:

That sure looks purdy... makes me wish I’d added a turbo and inter cooler when I swapped the new motor into the 40. Oh well, the extra power likely wouldn’t have been worth the extra headache. I guess I’ll have to make due with the 375 ft lbs (+/-) I get from my NA engine ;)

Certainly does look and sound cool, I still question your sanity a little bit, but who am I to judge

Could be worse, you could be humble bragging about a v8 that does several feet per year in mileage. :flipoff2:

And you would know... because I post a pic every time I drive on a gravel road.

How is Moutard doing these days? It’s been years since I saw a picture of you ‘Wheeling’...
Oh right, you sold it when it was 95% finished before it could rust out again.:flipoff2:

Yawn. Whatever bud. Don't think he was posting that pic to invite v8 comparisons.

As for moutard, I sold that thing 8 years ago. Had plenty of reasons for selling it, none of which are really any of your business.

Seriously 8 freaking years ago, and that's what you bring up?

Only reason I give any sort of **** about that thing is that it annoys me the guy did zero work to it in that time and let it rust. No one expects 8 years out a quick squirt of paint, especially not on a cruiser. I sure as hell didn't.

What the hell is driving that thing? That or he's got a deer pelt for a seat cover...
^^^^when men were men, and no one spoke in acronyms

Funny, I work with a bunch of ex navy types. Those guys will make an acronym for ANYthing.

One of them is some sort of intolerant baptist ( not that there's any other kind ) so he really doesn't like the pride month acronyms.

Or the rainbow screensavers his computer keeps getting...:hillbilly:
