Hmmm... I must be catching him on his slack days "or" he is dodging me. I have been there 3 times and he was not there. :D

Ok, he is always there but tied up with customers. ;)

not dodging folks, just "workin' like a dog" ;).

Tony, it was good to see you today. I was very impressed with your full modification creation of your Harley. I'm not a rabid Harley fan but yours really was done to a level that i would like to ride.

One thing Ive noticed, there are ALOT of creative and talented people in this group.

So Eric how long is price on the windshield wiper inserts good for. I was in a couple of times last week and forget to ask Kristal when I was there. If I remember I going to bring the FJ25 parts book in and have her check on a few things.

Once again Kristal comes through with all the parts I needed and the discount I like! Can’t believe they had everything in stock - VSV, crank case ventilation hose, and positive pbc hose along with the grommet and valve. Had to get a hose for the vsv from LA, but they got it in the next day.:)

Speaking of parts I wanted to share this info. I picked up some AC parts that Khristal had ordered for me well they had been on national back order and so I said that's weird that is the second time in a month that I ordered a part and it was on national back order and then she uttered the dreaded words. Toyota is ramping down production of parts for the older land cruisers and thats why parts are now on national back order more often. So I wonder how long Toyota will continue to produce parts for the 80 series? Maybe 3-5 more years? Its a shame too because non of the after market makers have the same reliability as factory parts so I am kind of wondering what to do. I dont want to really invest 5-10 grand in mods for my rig and then in a couple years no be able to get parts and end up selling my cruiser because after market parts are shotty. I kind of wonder how many will end up selling their cruisers to fund sas swaps on FJ Cruisers. I think that may be the direction I end up going in if the parts end up not being available anymore.

Howdy! Well, I hope your wrong, but I wouldn't be too surprised if your right. On the other hand, she had a window regulator on the shelf for my 85 last month. I figure if I can keep my 76 on the road, then I can find a way to keep my 97 on the road too. John

There are very few parts I am not able to get for an 80. Most of the "no longer available" parts I have come across are brown interior items (seat belts, small trim pieces, etc...), and a few sheet metal parts.

Keep in mind, when a part is back ordered, it doesn't mean it's dead. In fact, I am constantly amazed at some of the obscure parts people order from me, that are actually available either in the LA or Ontario, CA warehouses. Even parts for vehicles/engines that were never offered here in the US. For example, I had a foreign customer that needed a 2LT cylinder head. -LA had 12 of them on hand.

Personally, I think Toyota does a much better job in supporting older models than most other companies, especially, the domestic car makers.

I think Kristal's comment may of been more opinion based than actual fact. I havent heard that from Toyota myself. Gotmud is right - back order doesnt mean anything than coming from a different depot. They are still very supportive of older models.

As a matter of fact, we are rebuilding the 12HT trans out of Cayce's (Amused) relative with the 1990 60 series (The one that has the turbodeisel swap that several of you have seen. nice rig!)

All the trans hard parts are still available. You can even still buy the entire trans brand new from Toyota! 33030-60450 part #

I wouldnt sweat just yet.

Remember that Venezuela just stopped making the 80 series a few years ago. There isn't a need to get parts from them now since we have an ample supply, but I'm guessing there will plenty of parts for a long while.

Sigh of relief breathed. I would agree Toyota is pretty good at keeping up with the older vehicles that being said they did stop making the engine wire harness for 85 4runners:frown: But all of you are right I have been able to get most of what I was looking for when it came to my 4runner. Yeah I forgot South America ended production in 07 I believe. Kind of wonder how hard it will be to get parts out South America when the time comes. All of my back ordered parts were coming from San Fran I believe.

Khristal has come to my rescue a couple times now. Thanks Murf for setting this up for us. A coupe things that were seemingly unobtainium didn't really seem to pose much of a challenge for her.

I also appreciated it when she asked if my FJ40 was a 1978 and she chuckled when I replied "the front axle is."

Through March 31st, with each parts purchase from you guys/gals (no matter how big or small), Kristal will include a free Battery service kit. It has 2 aerosol cans: One is a cleaner/foaming agent, the other is the spray protectant.

Thanks! Kristal (602-532-4460) and Eric "Murf".

Is that Toyota OEM? A guy has to be careful, ya know.

Is that Toyota OEM? A guy has to be careful, ya know.

Although, according to the expedition guys, not as crucial as not using genuine Rover parts - but no one has ever done it out of fear of what may happen!
