i just Pm your in-box .......... :grinpimp: 🍻 🍻

And that auto-reply will tell you to email ;)

Look, I love all things Land Cruiser, I'm usually doing something related to them 364 days a year. But talking about them interferes with the great deal of time I prefer to spend out using them in the wild. I try and camp 60 nights a year and spent 100 days/year on a trail somewhere. I've got to get a few more in this next week. Which means I won't he answering work emails :D

Edit: or emails sent in duplicate via PM ;)

Which part # are you after.

17401-61090. First section off exhaust that would move US market exhaust above the from 1/79-7/80 FJ40s. Would not only move out of a place is easily get smashed it also allow a PTO winch to be used.

17401-61090 would qualify as a sub part number for a NLA part. 8/80-9/83 in the US exhaust ran above there frame but has a second small pipe for the EGR. Could see Toyota having a problem on the later ones because it effected emissions. 79 and 80 models that would not be the case.

I'll give it a peek. Another member messaged me about glass and this may be the same size/situation, air freight may be brutal and the customs/brokerage I have to do on a new part can be a bit of a chore. A switch is easy, we bring hundreds of 'switches' regularly. I've never brought over any exhaust. May be able to class it as a manifold for customs.

I’ve brought in exhaust pieces from Japan. I’ve never had any issues bringing them in.

It's not an possibility issue, it's the paperwork I have to fill out on many genre's of parts, particularly big stuff via my shipping broker. Bearing worksheets, cable worksheets, anti-dumping affidavits. Use commercial sellers like Amayama and others and they handle that. Air freight dodges most of that but is also crazy $$. That leaves LTL, I use a LTL broker based here in SLC that is significantly less expensive than paying retail parts and shipping rates. But I have to deal with the paperwork and coding on my end, technically it can be a sheet for each part number if they get picky. Sometimes they ask for nothing. Bearings seem to get the most attention, fortunately I've got a doc prepped for each of them at this point.

Off topic and I apologise for it but someone has a big finger in the US bearing market pie, hence all the attention. The same US made bearing retails here in Africa of all places (and other places too) at a significantly reduced price, even with our high import taxes and freight charges. Japanese bearings (Koyo, NTN, etc) are a fraction of the US price.

Add to that the practice of splitting the cone and cup in separate packages, something not found in most other places. Good thing that you have your paperwork ready to go.

We have to do a form for each package marked with a different part bumper. Some exporters will bundle and OEM bearings are sold as a set so that simplifies things.

I've not ever really sorted the situation. Obviously the industry is protected here in the US but why bearings and cables specifically? I've had to do origin paperwork on tons of manufactured steel parts but bearings and cables want sizes, roller type, etc.

I suspect the protection is at or immediately post source of manufacturing, end retailers like yourself gain nothing from this apart from your fair margin which you are fully entitled to.

Why something so simple as bearings and cables? Because it's an everyday item everywhere but not something that really attracts attention from Joe public.

I show the knob part number being 84111-20032 with 84111-20031 being a sub. I find 84111-20030 on other models but haven't found 84111-20031 as a main knob on a 40 series yet. Possible was off another model Toyota that hadn't moved the light switch to the steering column when the universal style came out?

Cheap enough would consider the knob mainly because I have a non illuminated light switch. I did not take the insert dash off the troopy being RHD. I did get a bunch but not all of the wiring harness including the plug for the light switch.

in 10/81 till 10/83 pro dates ONLY & USA Spec. FJ40 ONLY to best of my knowledge , CANADA also included here on the 24V Varity 86112-60030 illuminated knob head

lamp switches 84112-60011 being the USA 12V Varity pull switch had this Illuminated ONLY option KNOB Universal language update logo , i suspect any AU part number John for your UNICORN analogue version followed these same pro-dates ...

this is a NOS Tech image example of both 12V switch USA spec. and the KNOB , not sure if illuminated knob was ever offered stand alone ?

this is the absolute CROWN Jewel to my personal anything land Cruiser Pull switch collection and one day mini- museum
one day i am planning to eventually donate to the HERITAGE Museum under @cruiserdan 's super vision and care

ALL my illuminated PULL switches will be sealed in a glass Aquarium fish tank and powered up with LED bulbs , part numbers hopfully to , this will help educate and document future youger land cruiser generation

also , ALL my analoge knob land Cruiser specimens collection will be housed in this same glass display case with glass shelves , ALL LAND CRUISER and ONLY land Cruiser switches will be in this display i vision and have sketches on paper for right now ,

see , at the Heritage Museum i was told by @cruiseroutfit / kurt has zero floor space for such proposed idea and donation , however , the have some wall space , for possible submissions and consideration , this idea would meet that criteria ...

below is NOS switch outlined above updated in LED ...........fyi

Build a well curated shadow box of switches, something that tells a story and can be hung on a wall. A home can be found for that. There is no room in the display cases at current for even a fraction of what we currently have.

my proposed display will be 100% plug and play , literally ......

thank you Kurt for the feedback ,
