Hi Renago, would you mind sharing the contact of the guy who helped you with the conversion? I live in italy as well and i'm searching someone that can actually do that job. After considering all the option i too think is the best option.

Thanks ;)
Luca

Very impressed on your ability to just go for it.
Very interested for the reasons you outlined. Considering the same

Thanks Guys for the nice comments
As you know the truck is always on a open work list .
At present I am thinking to reorder the interior .
Keep the po g bench , and uplift the right side of the cabinet , and add also a Webasto heater .
Initially it will be done in simple plywood .
But the final version will be in alluminium .
Ply wood is cheap but drammaticly heavy .
Looking forward to a 2 mm alluminium .
Will keep you posted .
@ Mervo , we have in our plans to come to Canada and USA , with our car .
Once the date is draw we'll keep you informed .

Here are a few pic , of the Webasto planned position .
I have chosen this position , because of the exsaust fumes tube and tube to supply the fuel .
As you can see in the second pic the exsaust tube , fresh air intake and fuel line are comming and going from the side panel.
The other option was to make a few holes in the floor , which I don't like .

I just hooked up the 12 V line and tried the heater .
Pushed it to 35 C , works well , and easy to start and set the various selections , thanks to the new controller .
Will try to end all fitting next week .
PlS stay

After some planning I decided , that the interior needed some change .
Mainly due to the fact that trips in North Africa, or hot and dry regions , will be unlikely for some time .
Therefore we must foresee the possibility to have holidays with rain and cold weather .
This means , sleeping , cooking , heating and eating inside the car .
But keeping the chance to have camping asap , when weather will allow it .
Very doubtful about some dimensions and solution , I decided to make a prototype version , using scrap plywood , and some cheap solutions .
This version took me aprox 7 full working days , and 200 € of cost in various materials .
It is self made , with normal hand tools , so nothing professional, and fancy , many parts can widely be improved.
But the prototype gave me the possibility to have an extensive road test on dimensions , different divisions of the space , heating solution , confort ecc
This is the final result.
After my next trip in Norway , up till Nord Kapp , will tell if the project is good or not !

We are back from our trip in the far north of Europe.
Touched North Kapp , and some Lapland regions in Finland .
Plus of course all the fjords , Lofoten islands and Many other islands .
All very nice and interesting.
Wish I had more days to explore and relax .
However , the car performed flawless as usual , but most important the new interior and webasto heating was up to expectations.
The webasto air heater , airtronic 2000 etc , in 10 min, can heat up and dry the interior .
To the point that we were sitting/standing inTshirt with 21/24 C inside , with a an outside temp.of 6-8 C.
Very comfortable .
What I must do is to have a more uniform distribution of hot air .
At present,I have only 1 vent .
Planning to have a full row near right side of windows, 1 on the floor , and eventually a loose vent to dry wet clothes hanging in the rear .
The new interior set up was fantastic .
More space to move around and sufficiently comfortable to live inside the vehicle if out side weather is not friendly.
Photos will follow asap.

must add that the yellow cabinet , which I made just before our departure , is a prototype .
the final version is on the drawing board .
it will be a bit more high , in order to use all space .
in aluminium , to make it stronger ,lighter, and have much more internal space.
today the wood is 20 mm thick ,
compartments will be more or less the same , with some adjustments .
but minor change .
what we will add is the possibility to have a bed or relax area at the level of the cushions .
for 2 people .
we will add also 1 small sink .
and as said previously , a better hot air distribution .
as you can see in 1 photo , today there is just 1 vent .
cooking ,and fridge are fixed and can't be pulled out .
but easy to access also from ground , for when we are able to have a meal in open air .

hope this can inspire someone for their Toyota interior .

bye Renago
