Wix and Purolator are still not part of the Fram megacorp, AFAIK.

Wix makes the NAPA and CQ house brand filters.

Still no problem to get the dump truck filter:
Wix 51773
CQ 85773
Purolator L40017

I know I asked this question before, but I forgot the answer.
How much is the oil capacity increased when using the large Wix 51773 oil filter?

Thanks,
Zack

pretty sure wix just started making the filters for oriley house brand as well. last time i was in there my parts monkey explained the new box are the good filters.. old box made by fram.. they also changed pn's on most of them.. I do however buy denso by the case from rockauto normally. for the toyota fleet..

What took you so long? J/K. Thanks for sharing info NJ.
LOL. check the densoautoparts.com website...we have stuff available.

I like those Mann filters. I've used them many times. Heavy. But I've never cut one open.

Just change your oil more often!:p

I use the Wix oil filters on my 3B diesel, but a caution. i believe there are 3 different Wix filters for this application and one is a "premium" grade with better construction. Sorry no numbers at hand right now but a comprehensive application guide should give you options.

I use Wix a lot. They're currently what you usually get when you order a Bosch filter, too.

They're good. Perhaps not the best in the world. but they're good. And US made.

Here is the WIX 51773 that I just put on my 87 FJ60 today. It fits fine, however it is very close to the spark plug wire. I put a total on 9 qts in the engine, and it is showing a bit above the high mark on the dipstick.

Wix filter on FJ60.webp

Those Denso filters are available from Rock Auto for less than $5. The can metal is nice and stout.

The filter doesn't hold any oil, it all sits in the pan when the engine is off. That extra quart will show as high, because the dipstick doesn't take the larger filter into account.

its all I run anymore, I have a dozen of them in the shop

wix premium or best Napa

Any thoughts on the Wix filters. Been running a 51515 on mine, it is a Ford # filter and big.

If the oil is not staying in the filter, then the filter is bad. It is specified as having an anti drain valve, to allow mounting in any position.
