Do they make a 315 for 17" rims? I really like the looks and specs of those new tires.

Edit: Never mind, I just scrolled up and saw the tire size graphic.

Just got an ATII brochure this morning from my Toyo rep, here is a better break down on the sidewall profiles for you guys, this is for Canada but should be the same or more options in the US.

I pulled the trigger on the Toyos. 295/75/16.

First, they look great. The "extreme" sizes have some pretty huge lugs and void space, especially for an AT.

The ride quality is a huge improvement over the 285/75/16 8 plyBFG KOs. Granted, the KOs had 60k on them. I expected the ride to be harsher on the 10 ply Toyos. They feel much better in the corners and seem to track straighter on the highway. They also balanced with little weight.

Mpg has stayed the same, adjusting for 8%, according to GPS.

The KOs did wear like iron (60k miles). Sometimes they drove like iron, also. But they definitely deserve their reputation for durability.

After two weeks of mostly highway driving, I am extremely happy with the Toyos. They were great on the few backroads they've been on, too. Nothing interesting, just some dirt, but the ride was better there , too.

I'll check back in after a rotation or two.

Thanks to everyone for the great info and opinions.

Good to know.. only thing that sucks for me is that they have a pretty limited selection in the 15" size. Phone quote from my local Les Schwab was $215/ea..

What did you end up paying?

If you like Toyo AT tires you might look at the M55 line. I just got 5 for my '94. I've heard a lot of fleets run these tires and they're pretty much bullet proof for on or off road performance. They're pretty $pendy, as most Toyo's seem to be - but IMHO they're worth the extra $. I'm running the LT255/85/16 which is just a hair taller than the 285/75/16 you mentioned first. Just food for thought.

I do not know about their off road performance for wheeling, but for durability the M-55 would go a verifiable 55,000 miles on a diesel ford 4x4 that weighed in at 11,900 lbs. my dad drove it and put M-55's on again. Oilfield service truck with lots of gravel road time.

Please give an update to how your ATIIs have performed off-road.

I have the ATIIs in 315 Xtremes for my 80 with a 50mm TJM lift and am considering changing to a M/T in a 280 or 305 inch size. Reasons for this is I am worried about rubbing issues on full tuck in the rear and for the little bit of highway driving I have done the constant down shifting even in Florida's mild hills. Also, I am concerend that the ATIIs will not perform as well as I hope off-road. Although I do like how they may perfom on winter roads as I will be moving to Maine this summer.

Has anyone seen the difference in the 285/75 16 versus the 'extreme' 295/75 16?

I don't really want to go that wide, but if there is that much extra meat on the tires I would think about it. I have OME stock height springs. Anyone with 295 with stock height?

You aren't going to notice much difference in width when comparing a 285 vs. a 295. The extreme size will give you a more aggressive looking sidewall and a little more tread depth. And from the specs the 295 is 0.6" taller.

I'm running the 315/75R16s and love the look of the extreme sizes. I agree with spressomon, best looking AT tire out there!

There are also other factors such as 2-ply vs 3-ply sidewalls and a 10 lb weight difference.

hi,
I'm currently running Toyo Proxes STII (305/50R20) on my TLC200. i am looking for some winter tires; I'll driving to and from the Alps on weekends in snowy/icy conditions however still a lot of motorway use. i am considering Toyo ATII 305/55R20's, will these fit as i believe they are slightly taller than the 50's i currently have? I presume since these are LT's they will ride stiffer than the p-metric which i currently run

thanks for any feedback/advice.

:)

I currently run the GY Duratracs 305/70r16 on my 96 LC. To be honest they have been great. At 30k miles I still have 14/32" tread (new 19/32). I think Toyo is catching up to GY with this new extreme version. I like the rugged looks of both for a street/highway friendly AT. I have done some light wheeling with the Duratracs and they do great. The side wall looks to be the week spot, but I have not had any issue. I am looking to sell them and try the Toyo OC extreme in a 295/75 r16 next. I've had the Nitto's before and they served us well and are on a friends truck now with nearly 60K ( spent now). They were quieter than the Duratracs but I wanted more tread lug than the TG had. Now that Toyo has come to the table in aggressive AT I would consider this a good option. I also have been running the Toyo MT' s on my 4Runner for the last 8 years and do love them. If the little extra noise and weight is not a concern they, perform on levels.

I've run Duratracs on my 100 for over 40k miles in 3 years. I have 7/32 left. I really like them, especially in rain and snow (including the recent snow jam here in Atlanta). They've never given me any trouble. I just don't do enough hard wheeling to justify something as aggressive. They are getting a little loud at this point. I don't like running tires until they are slick so new rubber is going on in a few weeks. Plus I am saving 2 for spares, one for me and one for a pal who has a 100 as well. May keep the other 2 for my trailer.

I'm 90% settled in trying the Toyo AT2s for my next set. A little less aggressive, slightly shorter so I might get a smidge of fuel mileage back.

I've got a set of 4 brand new AT2's in the 285/75/16 size mounted on black 80 series rims for sale. ( love em- just sold the vehicle they were on)

Mounted - balanced on 80 rims with under 200miles when cruiser sold...$900 ( basically u get the rims free)

I'm getting same ones in 17s I like em so much....

In San Rafael, Ca.

Does everyone still like their Toyo Open Country A/T II's? I've never run anything but BFG A/T's, but am really considering the OC A/T II's. I currently run 275/70/16 BFG A/T's, but will be bumping up to 285/75/16's in about a month. No complaints about the BFG's, I just might want to try something new. They wouldn't be the "extreme" version, but I still think they would work well for me. My 80 is a DD and doesn't see any real trail use.
Thanks for the help.

Search in the 80's section for my review on these.

Already did, thanks. Just thought I'd post here for some more opinions. They seem like a great tire.

I don't think you'll find anyone who hasn't been happy w/the AT II's. After hours of research I found 1 person. He had them on a Dodge dually that always had a slide-in camper in the bed. He lives in the mountains & always drove on gravel/rock mountain roads. He only got 26K miles out of them but said Toyo gave him a very generous pro-rated amount & he went back w/the same tire. Your search is over!

2 counting me :D. The only issue, same as referenced above, is the paltry tread wear I've gotten from the original Toyo OC AT (2-sets) and now the OC II. I get 12k more miles out of GY MT/Rs (20k miles versus 32k miles). But rumor has it Toyo did change the rubber compound on some of the sizes...and purportedly the size I run: 285/75R18 for better/longer tread wear.

It was only after Toyo added the 50k mile tread wear warranty, in the 285/75R18 size, on the OC II I decided to try them again. Strange how the original OC AT had user reports that either complained about their anemic tread life or just the opposite praising how they got 60k miles out of them. Results seem to be influenced by: #1 Tire size and #2) GVW of the rig.
