Everytime there's a run on something because of a lack of common sense I think about the movie "Idiocracy", shake my head and just pray this isn't where it all starts...

Yeah, I thought it was a comedy...it's turning into a documentary.

The fuel supply can't handle everyone getting gas at once even at full capacity. Throw in a state of emergency, mix in some sheeple and boom NC looks like the laughing stock of the country, AGAIN.

Not just NC. It's happening in AL & GA too.

If you think about it though, it is OUR fault for buying what they were selling and letting our government turn into reality tv instead of a service focused endeavor. Luckily in our system we have the ability to wipe the slate clean and elect others to fill the seats of non-performers once we collectively get fed up enough!

NOVA is getting hit with gas stations running out too.. Gubment: "Be cautious of buying gas and don't hoard. Hoarding and unnecessary fuel purchase will only make matters worse."
Society: Ahhhh hellnahhh I need to buy all the gas!

you're right....its' not the fault of the current political regime.

What is wrong is the current example of the large number of mind numbed, selfish, lack of self control, disrespectful, childish, impulsive, mental midgets that are out in force hoarding gasoline. There are SO MANY. How as a society, have we allowed 'them' to keep walking around in public?

Drains on the positive push forward of society......they showcase it.....and 'we' let it get worse day by day,

It starts with us.......and will end with us.

Multiple rants from a disjointed psyche:

Personal responsibility has left favor. Its all about a public persona. Me, I have left social media behind. I could give a rats ass what people online think of me.

Supply shortage due to mental midgets, now theres a thought I can get behind.

Embarking on across country trip tomorrow. Asshats clogging up the gas stations, over flow traffic on one lane roads due to an accident on the parallel interstate stopping me from grocery shopping.

There are more people on the roads today than in the last month. Why? Where do you have to be during the late afternoon so badly?

Oh and the bridge that is closed indefinitely on interstate 40 near Memphis is directly on my route. Satan, are you messing with me? Get beneath my boot!!

As long as it's fixed by October, I'm good ;)

I think you're correct about the growing prevalence of negative traits and the lack of teaching "we" used to do to discourage them, but I think there's more to it with the gas "crisis". I think there's an aspect of control...meaning...during an out of control situation, people have the need, psychologically, to control something in order to help cope. Hoarding gas, much like toilet paper, is a tangible thing people can do to feel like they have some "control" over the situation. The issue is that every "crisis" we face isn't really a crisis. Would our grandparents have acted like this....doubt it. Why not....because their generation was not approaching the pinnacle of "learned dependance". A lot of your average John Q. Public is quite helpless when it comes to doing things and taking care of themselves because they pay somebody else to do out of convenience, lack self confidence, or have become conditioned to be reliant on some other entity. The people on this forum and the people they associate with probably don't fit that mold, but I see it elsewhere every day. How many times have you seen a fairly new car with a flat tire on the side road and the driver has called a service truck out to change it? The driver has everything they need in the trunk and step-by-step instructions in the owner's manual, yet they don't even try to help themselves. I'm astounded at the number of my peers that seem overwhelmed by doing something around the house as simple as painting a room.

It's sad really...we are losing our pioneering, self-reliant, "pull yourself up by your bootstraps" mentality that has set us apart and propelled America forward for generations.

Oh damn it was that bridge?? Didn't look too closely at the news story. That's a huge hinderance to commerce traffic.

That expression alone has been lambasted as insulting by some sets of the current intelligencia.

I reposted my Yakima kayak rack for sale on FB and CL. I included pictures of it off the vehicle, then showed 2-3 pix of it mounted with the kayak so people could understand how it works.

Buyer: I'll come over right now and buy it.
Me: Great! Here's my address: xxx
Buyer: Before coming over, I want to confirm this includes the rack, the saddles, and the kayak.
(Me, to myself: Seriously, wtf?)
Me: Yes, it includes the rack, saddles, kayak, and the 4Runner in the picture. $175 firm. For an extra $50, I'll include a 2019 Subaru Outback and a 2017 Toyota Tacoma.
Buyer: haha smart guy.
Buyer: I misread the ad, sorry.

Thanks UPS...you saved me the time and effort of bending up the trim mouldings myself 🤬

FOLLOW-UP: I emailed the Toyota Parts dealer I ordered these from at about 2am and included the picture. They are out in NM. I knew it wasn't their fault, but asked if this is the kind of thing they take up with UPS or do I need to do it. I got a response back from one of the parts guys at 8am stating they are going to ship me a new set. Maybe this story will have a happy ending after all....as long as UPS doesn't karate chop the box again.
