Here is the dark lens install wired to both turn on on low and high.

Been really loving these LEDs for driving a lot at night in the mountains. The harness makes it really easy to swap these in, really great product. (The stock lights are downright dangerous on rainy twisty roads at night) But I did a little test today in the snow. Drove for about 30 minutes at 20-30mph in wet, heavy 30-31 degree snow. So probably the worst case scenario for snow accumulating, but also shows how little heat these generate to keep above the freezing point.

There was a little less accumulation on the low beam than the (unused) high beam. It was also more of a thin icy layer than the slushier snow on the brights. If this was nighttime, I would have definitely been stopping frequently, even on a short drive, to clear the lenses. Definitely something to consider for where you live and how you use your Cruiser.

Next experiment I am going to try some deicer spray type products. And I'm also going to look into heated LEDs.

The kit we have developed only uses them in the stock form. That is a function that can be done but it requires additional wiring not provided by this kit.
Isn’t the stock operation on the FJ62 to have all four lights on when the highbeams are on? That’s the way my truck’s always operated - flip on the highs and all 4 headlights are on.

Is that not how it will be if I install the Torfab LEDs?

They follow the stock wiring and function. Unless you add the “Add all 4 on low Headlight Harness”.

This would let you double your light output on “low beams” (all 4 headlights on) that is what is different. For whatever reason Toyota wired the original system to only have 2 lights on low and 4 on high.

This is the explanation on the website:

A set of 4 lights consists of: 4 Lights (2 low beam and relays and 2 high beams). If you want all 4 headlights to come on with low beams choose “Add all 4 on low Headlight Harness”. You can also order this wiring harness if you have other LED headlight kits. “Just All 4 headlight”, Just all 4 on low Headlight Harness”

Hope that helps explain the differences.

Any chance @NookShneer can show how you recommend the resistor be mounted with detailed description/required mounting hardware? Just ordered and what to make sure I have everything planned out.

Thanks

Here is the location in the install video. Others have mounted them a little higher up on the fender bolts.

Important thing is to make sure that the ground wire is under the bolt head and that you are getting a good ground.

Resister from Amazon is what I was asking about... Thanks

Sorry about that. This is the one we recommend. You would need to mount to the fender in a place that allows heat to disipate as they get warm when on. I would recommend trying to place on the raised rail with the emissions equipment if possible to prevent drilling into the fender. Sorry I don't have any photos of this installed.

Thanks, if you come across a photo of that, please send my way, I am by no means a mechanic, but I'm above-average "handy". Mount with screws?

HJ61. original set installed in 2021. low beam on passenger side (left side) died, hi beams worked properly. grabbed a new set, turned out to be just a relay. ill have spare parts for the future

Someone asked about driving through heavy snow. better visibility with only low beams. there is quite a bit of snow accumulation on the headlights themselves. I think the bulb is warm enough just to catch and make sticky slush but not hot enough to melt the slush off. there were a few times when I had to pull over and manually wipe the thick slush off driving to leavenworth a few years back . (wouldnt mini wipers be sick? eh torfab?)
