New project in the house!

We imported this FJ45 last month. It's been a months long project for the owner and Meshal getting it renovated.

They stripped the body down to bare metal, rebuilt the 2F and restored the H41/split case.

My job is to put the cool stuff on it.

Meshal has a ton of photos from the resto he sent me I'll post if he doesn't. Bottom line they did a real nice job. Paint is good. Finish and alignment are good. They used good hardware. Pretty pleased.

First thing I did was snatch the chrome bumper off and install the 4Plus 8274 bumper.

The tires are named after my buddy @OGBeno

Next I installed the Terrain Tamers on the rear. I've used them on 40, 45 pickup, 60, 70, and now a Troopy and I'm impressed with how much they help over the huge Troopy packs

Cool stuff? That's it? You're going to make us wait to find it what 'cool stuff'? Cruel.

It's missing the rear pocket door. Is that hidden in the boxes?
It is.

I figured out a good spot to add the OEM fog lights. These look cool. Also added some Koito H4s.

The front went together nicely. I'm always anxious to see how they sit with a new suspension I've never used

Pretty sporty if I say so myself. Stance is nice. The ride is a no brainer immediately improvement.

All I'm doing under here is powder coating a few things and some wiring. He's going to give the carburator a go but I expect it back one day for a Sniper.

I'm putting those on my 43. Can't wait to see how they compare. 45 springs on the shorter 43 make for a ride like the axles are welded to the frame.

I had OME on my troopy and it was night and day compared to the stock spring pack. Terrain Tamer is even better by all accounts.

I'm back in the groove now. After the gym I ran down to 49Tire and grabbed the Yokohamas on FJCo wheels and got them mounted for a poser shot or two

What's crazy as hell is that the 40 series all the way through 84 came with 4 wheel drum brakes. The next big project is to show the fronts the door. The rears are fine. Pretty much the same as 60 series. They stay.

I sourced a donor axle and got it clean and I'm currently taking it apart for the knuckles, hub and spindles.

The dozer pressure washer made quick work of the caked on gunk

Those rear overload leafs look like real rock catchers.

I've never been in big rocks with any of mine so I can't confirm. No idea.

This 45 was a big learning experience to get to know more about 40s in general. this truck got new front doors with almost everything new in it except vent windows frame. New body mounts. Refreshed harnesses. all electrical parts that can be found from toyota are new like brake switches, light switches, flashing relay, tail lights, fog lights, jar pump. The tank got new switchs with new hoses and seals. All oem straps except City Racer Troopy straps

A lot of oem parts.
Many City Racer orders.
And more of Amayama specific orders

When it comes to bolts, I followed the catalog as much as I can, The body got almost 80% new bolts and screws all brand new toyota; and some from City Racer too.

Engine got the following:
  • Oil pump
  • water pump
  • Radiator and all cooling parts
  • piston
  • rings
  • timing shaft
  • valves
  • oil cooler and all piping related
  • intake gaskets
  • full engine gasket
  • Oil vent valve.

Trans got
  • New gasket kit.
  • new switches.
  • new knob.
  • new Alloy body for the transfer.

A really nice upgrade you might want to consider is a 70 series parking brake cable and adding the 40/60 parking brake hardware to the rear brakes, it all bolts right in and is 1000 times better then the transfer brake as you know

Funny. You are always touting those rear drum mods.

I was just commenting to someone here at the shop at how good this ebrake is being on a floor handle versus the pull handle.
