Apologies as I know there has already been a lot of threads on tires but I cant find a definitive answer, can I run 33x12.5R15 tires on 15x8 rims on an HJ60 with no lift? or is this a bad idea? Wont really get any kind of serious off roading as I use my 80 for that, so im not really worried if it rubs at full flex etc. Thanks.

No definitive answer possible without more information. What rims, what offset, what's the real diameter of the tires (actual size varies among manufacturers even when the nominal size is the same. Even then its all going to be theoretical until you put a set on or find someone with what you want to run. I can give you a data point if that helps.

I have 33x10.50R15 BFG Mud Terrains on my 1990 FJ62 with stock wheels and 270+++ miles on the tired stock springs. I don't rub at all even when flexed at full lock.

They'll rub at full compression while turning.
There's zero reason to install 33s if you're not off-roading except for looks.

Fair comment, but if i followed such a logical thought process i wouldn't have the truck at all lol
BRILLIANT!!
Moreover, I think the fact that these trucks are gaining popularity is proof positive the world has lost it's damn mind.

Also know that one thing you may run into is your selected shop not wanting to install the tires on your rims because they do not meet recommended manufacturer rim size. Something that has come up in the past in multiple threads.

Find a new shop. Ideally one that actually has mechanics that either race or offroad. This makes a huge difference.

Practical experience with the 33x10.5's on stock rims have done great in the desert and mountains of the southwest. However, deep dry sand is a nervous endeavor especially weighted down but so far I've found that airing down to 20 psi (hot) has prevented me from getting stuck ever. I once got shut out on a long steep hill in deep sand. In 4-high the 60 didn't have enough power and in low it was too slow to float. 12's may have helped. This summer has been very dry and has me considering going to wider tires but only because I'm surrounded by sand. My $.02 worth.

Just for some closure, I went with my heart rather than head a bought the 33x12.5s but with 15x10 rims and so far im pretty happy. When i get bored of them you can all say "i told you so".View attachment 1748416
Love your VA plate. Are you actually in the UK now?
