Hey JJBigs.
Super excited for this product!!! Being researching RTT to mount on my 100 series, but was not able to find one which was lightweight and low profile w/aerodynamic considerations. Looking forward to the Terrapod going live. Hoping to get my hands on one when available.
Just had a few questions.
1. Is there any way to replace the fabric if it gets damaged?
2. Will the RTT come with a warranty?
3. Will parts be available to repair the units in case of damage?
4. Is there a reason why most of the fasteners are rivet type & not screw type?
5. Any way you can share the colors these will be available prior to the go live date?

Good luck & Cheers:beer:

1. Is there any way to replace the fabric if it gets damaged?
Yes.

2. Will the RTT come with a warranty?
Yes. Similar to others in the industry. (Manufacturing defects, etc)

3. Will parts be available to repair the units in case of damage?
Yes. To a point. Reason - the tents are ridiculously rugged.

4. Is there a reason why most of the fasteners are rivet type & not screw type?
Of course...in the case of aluminum, rivets can often be a more effective mechanical connection than screws. Think aerospace.

5. Any way you can share the colors these will be available prior to the go live date?
The standard tents will be the color shown. Gray fabric with black accents and an orange rainfly.

A follow up mounting question. I have a Frontrunner slimline II roof rack (approx. 85"x53"). In what direction does the mounting rails run on the Terrapod? Front to back or left to right? Thank you.

Any update on when this might hit kickstarter? Been trying to keep an eye out for it but I don't use social media platforms.

I was interested, but 18 months of development was too long so I bought a lightly used Columbus variant so I could actually use something in 2020. Now that I have some insight on that design, it will be interesting to see how this one finally turns out. One thing I like about the autohome is the space for the sleeping bags, pillows, and ladder when closed. At times, I have to move the bags around to allow the shell to close freely and it has more space than this design. Like I said- love the concept- need to see one in person to see if I would switch.

All good. Kickstarter is going live in mere days.

Attention Lexus GX guys. We are working with Rhino-Rack to see about offering the Backbone mounts, racks and more. Stay tuned and keep your fingers crossed!

Attn: 1st Gen Lexus GX Guys - we need a volunteer to test a Rhino Rack Prado Backbone. Please DM me for more information.

@JJBiggs
fits perfectly. I have it. 🤘 it'd be a rad option for your offering!!!! 👍
RTPB2 for GX470, RTPB1 for GX 460

I did a test fit in the RR Aurora, CO warehouse last year.. I worked with them for months over the phone and touched base in person @ Easter Jeep safari in Moab 2019; Rob (cust svc: (303) 706-9700) was a key in dialing RR USA to stock and try RTPB2 on GX470, convincing RR US that it'll work b/c prado 120 is Lexus 470 (with regard to roof mounting). Any Rhino diatribitor can get the RTPB2 by calling the Aurora, CO warehouse.
RR USA was supposedly working on getting the RTPB2 on the USA website since Feb or so 2019.

If you ran a Backbone under the tent, but decide not to keep the tent on all the time, can you easily add load bars to the Backbone for other uses when the tent isn't up top? That's my issue with the Backbone rails, it looks like its made for either a rack or a tent, and not load bars. I don't really want to have to install a whole rack every time I take the tent off and I don't want the Backbone just sittling up there empty looking like a half-finished roof rack. When I looked into this it seemed like if you want to run load bars you need the Rhino towers rather than the rail style Backbone. Maybe I'm wrong on that. Hoping I am.

Know exactly what you mean. That's why we created the heavy duty crossbars to join the Backbone to the tents. You can remove the tent and our crossbars can easily remain mounted to the Backbone and be used in various ways. They look great and give a minimalist rack look as well.

The backbone is of course intended for rhino rack products like their load bars or a pioneer platform, etc. But with some extruded aluminum, you could have some basic load bars in place at all times that the tent mounted to e.g....

Perfect. I didn't realize your crossbars could stay on the roof without the tent. Thanks!

I also have the Rhino backbone for the GX470. I got mine right after DRANGED. Heck, I’m the one who got him set up with it because he was closer to Colorado!

Production Reservations coming very soon for the First Edition RTTX
