Ok. Off the truck, I hope.

My prediction: It's going to get squished. ;)

I've bounced 8.5 lb sledge hammers off the stuff it is made from. I am totally expecting damage. Sooo...We shall see.
(and yes...off the 4Funner. 😁)

COMING SOON!

RTTx Prototype 001 will be sacrificing itself...for the cause.

We will be testing the structural integrity of prototype RTTx001 by dropping a 7" diameter, 6' long pine tree limb from 10-12 feet onto the tent to find out how tough it really is...on camera.

(That is of course, when it finally stops raining here in the Southeast...)

Stay Tuned!

I greatly appreciate the robustness of this type of R&D. I'm thoroughly impressed with the engineering that has gone into this product!

Now that's a proper RTT! Beautiful, functional, well made etc...well done.

So tired of arguing with guys trying to unload their Chinese crap from Alibaba on the community.

Ok folks...it's on.

One last look at prototype 001 before..."the incident"

And...the culprit...

Pretty cool, definitely something that could really happen.

In my head I was picturing a bigger log. Not sure why. Also, I was thinking across the top horizontally.

Awesome!

HAHAHA... FWIW - that's me in the video. I am 6'6" and 275lbs. That log is sizable...just not next to me. 😁

In other news - We learned today, there is another company performing hurricane testing on the same panel material we use.
The panels take a 2x4 fired at 100mph with no intrusion or failure.

More food for thought. šŸ¤”

Terrapod RTTx Release & the Covid-19:

A quick note. The team at Terrapod are watching the present scenario very closely. To date, Terrapod has worked hard to prepare and is primed, ready to go.

Then the Coronavirus happened.

Unfortunate events surrounding the Covid-19 virus is directly impacting supply chains, materials suppliers and our potential customers in a dramatic way.

At present, the RTTx Extreme Roof Top Tent is still being primed for release. We will be continuing forward with a Kickstarter campaign to provide a tool for pre-orders and determining a best-course of action.

The final production model is being prepared for showing and should be ready for viewing in the coming week or so.
Till then - please be smart, be safe and take care of those around you who need assistance in this very challenging time.

Adventure Simple.

Mind if i ask what type of composite panel you're running? Really interesting and thinking it allows for less horizontal bracing needed under the mattress due to the rigidity?

06/01 UPDATE:

Covid-19 caused our supply chain to essentially take a giant dump. Nearly all vendors and partners were shut down as they were marked as "non-essential". Last week, we were notified by a number of them, they were opening back up for business. 🤘

Many mentioned if they shipped their products during the shutdown, they would have been fined by their respective locations'.

So...where are we today?

We have started the engines back up and are working to line up the parts needed for a run of the first 50 units.

There are a few things to tighten up...We have to line up a facility (again)...and determine the best place to not only build these, but accept shipments and grow. Once we have a better idea on the timeline...I will post up another update.

Some small fine tuning in the sewing / fabric is still needed. We have a solution that will increase strength while providing a replaceable fabric set solution for owners.

Above all, a big thanks to the believers and followers of Terrapod. We appreciate the enthusiasm and the increase in following over the course of the shutdown.

The tent is truly coming.

Adventure Simple.

Thanks for the update and good luck!

Eager to see where this goes!

Well...As they say...It's all about the location, location, location. 😁

This looks very interesting. Would it be possible to direct mount it to a 60, and I mean really direct mount it, like bypassing the gutters altogether and attaching it to the roof so you can cut a 2x3' hole in the rear section of the roof and climb into it? I could make up some plywood contoured edge pieces around the perimeter of the roof creating a flat top edge for the tent to mount to. And if possible, remove the base of the tent to reduce weight since it isn't needed with the roof of the 60 providing a base for the mattress (with some reinforcements from inside the vehicle)
