Gaijin, thanks for all that you do for this forum! Had to laugh when I read this comment since I fully appreciate your point about check your signature and move on. With that said, when I looked at your signature I found that you run on the exact tires I am looking to put on my LC. I have had them on three other vehicles so I have a good sense of what they are like, but have been curious about how much the E load rating changes the ride feel on a LC. On my Tundra and Silverado it definitely made them feel more truck-like (stiff, harsher ride, etc), did you find that with the LC?

When I drive with the LT285/70R17 Load Range E KO2's, and compare them to my stock P285/60R18 Bridgestones, my butt dyno seems to be much more sensitive to and aware of the added weight of the tires, rather than any stiffness. On smooth paved roads, never notice them. Same for secondary and dirt roads which have more or less gentle contours and undulations, not really anything in ride characteristics that catches my attention. It's rough roads, at speed, with sharp features, that make me feel like all the forgiving sponginess in the suspension has stiffened up considerably.

Overall, I must say I really like my KO2's. It is a constant source of confidence knowing I have an extremely durable tire that will do a great job of resisting damage and therefore the old, "uncontrolled spontneous loss of pressure" which I would probably experience with a lesser tire.

It all comes down, of course, to a personal choice - and the trade-offs one is willing to accept.

NTV:

If you have read any of my posts concerning RCTIP, you will note that I require at least 2 pieces of information in order to make an accurate recommendation.

1. A complete description of the tire and size you are asking about. You have not done this. BFG does not make an ISO-Metric "285/70/17 load range E" tire. Please take a look at your tire and try again.

2. Which vehicle will this tire be mounted on? I cannot keep track of, or research through posts in other threads, what vehicle you own; nor can I legitimately just assume you will be using the tire in question on your own vehicle. Please state whether this tire is for use on a LC200 or LX570.

TIA

P.S. If you think I am being mean, just look in my signature and move on. Otherwise, I look forward to receiving your clarifications.
No worries. I appreciate you and your help. I do however think I was correct in the tire size. Please see picture attached. I just had these installed last week. I have a 2018 LC with Icon 17 Vector 5 rims. 285/70/17 10ply with load range E. Thanks for your help to this forum and hopefully some day I can buy you a beer or whatever your beverage of choice to say thanks. Take care.

In an effort to help since I had to figure this out too, I believe what @gaijin was getting at is that those tires are :
BFG KO2 LT285/70R17 121/118R Load Range E.

The LT part of that is particularly important. Since, for example, a hypothetical P285/70R17 or iso-metric 285/70R17, is a very different tire from an LT285/70R17 in terms of RCTIP and the load it can handle.

—edit—
It is also important for him to know if the tires are going on an LC200 or an LX570 since the RCTIP will be different depending on the vehicle.

Makes sense and I apologize for being a newbie and not understanding the LT part. I get it now! Learn something new everyday! Figured the picture was worth 1000 words. Thanks again for clarifying!

👍 Glad to be of help, and your photos were a useful addition.

No worries on being a newbie, I’m still very much one. The little I know comes from all the helpful people here and the loads of information that can be found searching and reading through previous posts.

Thanks for the follow-up info. Just to be clear:

The RCTIP for those LT285/70R17 tires on your LC200 is 40psi F/R.

And thanks for the kind words.

If possible could I ask for the RCTIP for Toyo At3 LT285/65/18 on a heritage LC.

Looks like you have the LT285/65R18 125S Load Range E tire. Ergo:

The RCTIP for those LT285/65R18 tires on your LX570 is 37psi F/R.

Why there is a difference in tire preasure between lc200 in this size same load range e [42psi] and lx570 37psi? I though that lx570 is heavier and need higher psi than lc200.

Toyota/Lexus engineered the suspension systems on the two vehicles to provide optimum safe performance with different tire spring rates (i.e. tire pressures). Different vehicles, different suspensions, different engineering considerations from the manufacturer - simple as that.

Thanks for the explanation 👍

@gaijin

I have 285/75R16 KO2s on a 2015 70 Series wagon, so around 2200 kgs. What pressure should I be running on my KO2s? Thank you in advance.

I only recommend pressures for 200 Series, but everything you need to do the calcs yourself is in this excellent monograph on the subject published by Toyo Tires:

Guidelines for the Application of Load and Inflation Tables

Helpful hint: Your tires are most likely NOT the ISO-Metric size 285/75R16 you mention, but rather the LT-Metric size LT285/75R16.

Thank you, you are correct. They are the LT-Metric version. Thank you for the link to the Toyo document. It's obvious but interesting to see how as the vehicle weight rises, you need to raise the pressure.

gaijin...

2015 LX.

285/50R20 116T Bridgestone Blizzak DM-V2

Recommended pressure?

TIA!

The RCTIP for those ISO-Metric Extra Load 285/50R20 XL 116T tires on your 2015 LX570 is 34psi F/R.
