Does the recessed part of the bearing go toward the hub, or does the flat side?

It goes together just the way you've got it in the picture.
Pick up the bearing, set it on the hub, and squish it in the press.

That looks like the TO brg for a 3 finger clutch, BTW.

Shouldn't be. That's what I had and this bearing is way bigger. It's a Nachi 052TRBC09-7, Toyota 90363-52001-77 for a 1986 FJ60. Thanks, they are squished together.

I was surprised how much bigger the 2F bearing/hub is compared to the F.

The clutch hub should have a small hole in each “ear” to secure the retaining wire spring thingys. I don’t see the little holes on your hub ears.
