Yeah, but at 4500+ lbs, off-road capable, pretty good power output, Toyota quality.......that is pretty unbeatable IMHO.

I suppose... but doesn't the Wrangler 4Xe also ticks some of those boxes, and that's old news.

My wife drove a jeep when I met her 23 years ago, she never really loved the 4Runner's/Sequoia I bought her. She didn't like the 200 when we test drove it, but she told me to buy it if I liked it. Now it's all she wants to drive on long trips

So I recently bought her a 4 door Rubicon with the power top, (pretty great feature) 21k miles and I've already replaced the lower control arms and the steering stabilizer.

But, my plan is to trade the Rubicon for a J250 when they arrive - will the jeep last that long though.......

My wife has a 4Xe Sahara - its been fine and during the school year (she is a teacher, 7 mile commute) she often goes 8-900 miles on a tank off gas since it is a plug in with 20 something miles range. Oh and it has had 0 issues, so far (20k miles or so). Will probably replace it with a J250 when the lease runs out. I don't want to own it long term at this point.

I'm talking about the podcast host.

Sorry I'm five pages late. Happy to hear my rant resonated with some of you.

I'm going to order all the other-market "Prado" badges I can so I can send them to you all to slap on every 250 you see. It's only the nice thing to do since Toyota cheaped out on the $.50 badge for the US market.

My take on this is really that we're on the rapid decline of ICE-based cars and trucks.

I don't even really think the 300 series is a real LC. It's focused too much on being light. It doesn't have a split tailgate. It has a turbocharged V6, which I'm sure is reliable because it's Toyota, but it's not going to be as reliable as a V8, naturally aspirated.

The next LC will be electric, and that will be the future. So, frankly, I think the LC, as we really understand it throughout history, died with the 200.

Wife drives the 200 and she thinks it is a tad too large. I love the size of our 80 and think Toyota nailed it with that series. Have no plans to purchase anything at the moment but I do like the looks and engine in the new GX and could go that way someday.

What year is the Wrangler? If it is an earlier model year JL I know they had steering vibration kinks that they had to work out.

A neighbor has the new 392 V8 top spec trim, I'll admit to being very impressed with its capabilities, but like you said time will tell how durable they are once they hit 100K miles and beyond. Climbing underneath it though, that Rubicon model looked pretty stout as far as Wranglers go -- damn well better be for nearly $90k.

J250 seems like a solid replacement for the 2.0 Turbo or V6 Wrangler though.

Range on 1 full gas tank is less than 280 miles...so actually worst than LC!

this presents a comparison of the new Prado to the 300:

I was trying to find mpg and range info on the hybrid but couldn't find anything definitive on the fuel tank size for US hybrid version. MPG claims are 27 mpg on multiple car review web sites though some discussion about that its not really much better than the 200 in this thread. Of course there is EPA estimated MPG and real world mpg. If the range is really less than 300 miles, that is really terrible for any new model mid size SUV. I have gone 500 miles in my built 200 (w/ 24 gal LRA :) ). It will be really funny when LRA makes aux fuel tanks for the hybrid LC/Prado or people start carrying jerry cans.

You’re getting 280? My fuel light comes on around 240 and I’m afraid to push it past that.
oh wow...that was just from what i read on the net...that is is bad. Yikes. And here i thought my LC suck at range.

If the hybrid LC come with the 22 gal ICE Prado fuel tank, it’s got to be better than 280 mile range.
