Know what? Take one look underneath the 250 is all you need to know. That in addition to the modular platform that Toyota has now made all SUVs off of. The new 4R will be based off it too.
Seems like you making assumptions not based on facts.

No one has even driven it yet.

The 200 is spectacular… and you can get the Lx 600 to replace it.

The 250 is built better than the 100 series in my “Opinion”

Many great points here. 🤗.

I am very torn: Keep the 80? Keep the 200? Keep both? Sell both? I am a single dad, kids not yet driving (soon two years or so), with another "fun" car in the garage, so simply cannot keep 'em all.

New, new tech, better efficiency, longer range, "poverty package", "decent" price... some of the reasons among many more, to get the LC250, ah ! And the dream that I would get a brand new Land Cruiser which I have dreamt my whole life ! I could have bought a LC200 new, but really in my heart, it was too much... specially it always bothered me that in the rest of the world, we could get the "Toyota W140" w/o all the bell and whistles, at a more decent price.

As I said in other thread, if the LC250 is a Prado, which is NOT a bad thing, and if we take what the Prado has been (and not been) in other markets where you can directly compare the Prado vs the LC100 and LC200, the LC250 WILL be a very capable and GREAT truck, but IT WILL NOT be a LC200 direct replacement. Maybe it will not be as tight as the LC200 is , tighter than a turduken ! But if it is a Prado, it was never meant to be that, and that's not a bad thing either. I absolutely adore my LC200 (had other two 200's before this one and two 100's), EVERYTHING about it is GORGEOUS, it is like a tank on wheels, and the 3rd row albeit small, very convenient when moving kid's friends.... but then the range, the frequent stops at the gas station, and the lack of the newest dumb tech (yes, I do miss that gadgetry of the new cars) , makes me think about the LC250 !

Maybe I'd keep the LC200, sell the 80, and get the 250 ! (or, .... dang, here again ! LOL).

Whatever the opinions, I do believe THESE are really exciting times for Yoya fans, and Toyota as a company !!!

Facts? The thing has a 4 banger. No way it is more HD than the 200.

250 LC “Prado”
326 HP
Over 400 ft/lbs torque.

Compare that to the 100 series designed in 90’s.

The 200 series is a Tank.

The 250 isn’t a direct Replacement for the 200.

Agree with several of your points. But having owned and been deep around 100/200, 120/150-series.

No way the 250 is as robust as the 100-series. Sure, the Prado will grow up and make more power in its latest version, but the 100-series is a real deal tank that needs no qualification.

At this point, it’s speculation Gentlemen.

I’m not saying this is the be all end all Land Cruiser…

I am Saying… perhaps the “Junk” 250 should be driven and get some time out on trails before a assessment of accuracy is determined.

Just saying.

I never said junk.

Yes ^

My choice of not spending $60,000 on a 200 series with 90,000 miles that gets 13mpg is becouse I don’t need the Overbuilt version of the 200 series design. No need to tow 8100lbs.

The New 250… suits my needs.

Fuel efficiency for overlanding the next decade is definitely one of them.

I believe there are others like me and like you.

No need argue… it’s just the right tool for the job.

Simple

Good for Toyota as a company, but definitely makes the vehicle less special. People want what they can't have. Hopefully it won't become the next 4Runner TRD in terms of numbers at every corner. In 2015 it was somewhat exciting to see one on the street, now its like seeing a tree.
I’ll admit I like a little exclusivity in life. Things that I’ve worked hard to achieve and enjoy. But I don’t think more cruisers on the road is a bad thing. It can still be special and at the same time have a larger community. That’s only going to lead to more aftermarket support and more folks to banter with here on the forums.

For certain.

To a certain extent, you are correct. It just won't be as special. Nearly nothing in great numbers is. What lured me to the 200 series is its exclusivity and understated luxury. Not being the top offering (300 series) and going from v8 to 4 cyl definitely subtracts from the luxury aspect.

Hopefully it has an impact on aftermarket support, though we didn't really see that once the new "Toyota Zupra" was introduced, and MKIV was sold in way fewer numbers than LC200.

Same here. I will miss the stealth wealth aspect of it for sure.

As far as exclusivity goes it’s less of a thing for me living in DFW. On my block alone there are 5 cruisers carrying the Toyota badge. (3 200’s including mine and a couple 100’s) Go just a mile or two out and I can show you 80’s, 60’s, and I even know of a 40 not too far away. Add in the dozens upon dozens of LX’s around here and ya, I see at least one other cruiser out there nearly every time I’m on the road.

The 250 will be like the 4 runners, everywhere.

Just drive past em knowing you’re driving a more robust version.

As they wave you can stick your nose up at them, or is that only for the Lx and Gx crowd ?

😁

I'm going by sale numbers in N/A for LC200 vs 4Runner. For every 200 series that I see every few weeks, I see 6-8 TRD 4Runners a day.

4Runners are everywhere here yes. But I still think (know) they are special. Particularly the off road trims.

Oh most def. I see FAR more 4runners than Land Cruisers around here. In fact I’d say the only vehicles I see more of are the 1/2 tons from the big 3 and Nissan Altimas.

They are special but they aren’t $70k TRd PRO special. lol on those idiots paying those prices.

I paid $26k for my 07 V8 4Runner new in January 2008 and it is still a cooler car than the new ones.

Reminds me of a quote I read somewhere that went something like a fool and their money will soon part. I paid $50k for mine and felt that was about right for what you got.

Then again maybe I’m a fool for paying nearly new MSRP for a used 200 series. At least I didn’t fork over 6 figures. That helps me sleep at night haha.
